Kaʻena Point Questions

I wonder if it’s open now since parks opened up this weekend.

 

I would like to think that when a gate code gets posted, then....

 

PEACOCK FLATS - I purchased a hike permit last weekend to access the tracking station.. but once arrived they would not allow access.

 

The access code is not available and the Mokuleia vehicle access gate remains locked. *Sigh*

 

“Access on the Mokuleia side may be restricted due to waterline construction.”

anyone know what ‘waterline construction’ they’re doing?

 

There an old rusted water pipe that runs from camp erdman all the way to the end of the point. Last year, it busted open and was leaking in the point. I imagine it’s been shut off since then. They’re ripping it out, and replacing it. On Friday, they got to the entrance gate. My guess is that they’ll keep it closed till they finish.. the line runs along the top access road and is marked by blue chalking paint.

 

is it usually a spigot that anyone can use? Or is it to help water plants out there or something? Sounds like a long run, do you know how long it’s taken them to get from erdman to the gate? That way can have a better idea how long it will take for them to complete

 

Haha took them a few weeks. Since beginning of May, to get to the gate.. but I heard, via rumor, that they had to stop due to funding issues.

 

I remember you having that blue line on your Instagram story a week or so ago, now it makes sense as to what it was there for.
