ahh ok, at least I'm not the only one.. lol

I've got the fan off, my gun wont fit, but my air ratchet will. I have my breaker bar on the crank bolt and wedged on the frame, I'm putting more tension on the belt via the tensioner with a ratchet, and trying to break the alt pulley free with my air ratchet. its also been sprayed with PB.

lets see how she goes! lol

 

and the amount of dirt that has fallen in my face from behind all the pulleys, the fan shroud, etc.. is ridiculous. what asshole let this thing get so dirty...

depending on the state's ability id always opt for the colder stuff. probably has more alcohol for faster evaporation time. i just use methanol

 

well no go. Its seized on there pretty good I guess. Tried about every combination I could think of minus grabbing it with vice grips like @TodayWasTHeDaY . It feels like the bolt wants to twist more than anything.

One thing I did notice after struggling for a while is there is a spot for a wrench on the alternator shaft that I tried loosening for a few minutes before realizing there was the larger nut that I couldn't see very well that actually holds the pulley on

 

I did that too at first.. then had to clean away all the dirt with the PB to feel the 22mm on there..

 

eye drops for the vision.

 

Maybe more PB let it sit and tap the bolt a bunch. You know how it goes...

lol. worst case I'll grab it with vice grips. I'll let it soak for a while.. try it again. I'm not missing anything simple like its reverse thread am I? lol

I'm holding everything as tight as I can.. and I can feel it twist more than anything. Gonna soak it more tho and let it sit for a bit..

 

Mine was traditional threading although I thought it might be reverse for a while too.

A small pipe wrench properly braced would also work on the pulley. I don't think I would have got the pulley off without wrecking it with the knipex pump pliers.

 

The pipe wrench did cross my mind too. I'll probably just take the belt off and try that.. and hope that its the correct pulley. lol

It does lol.

These things are the bomb though. Basically a way better version of Chanel locks. I can grip them on to a piece of scaffold tubing and they will support my weight (not the heaviest guy but 160 lbs) without slipping. The grip on the teeth is nuts.

These are the same ones I use at work for those really nasty fasteners or items which refuse to come out. They work amazing because of their sudden 45* design.
