HA. My mountain won't be open until mid-November probably. Just getting excited.

You should really try some other companies. Specifically Rome, Nitro, or Arbor.

I hope something is open the first week of December in New Mexico. I went to a pretty cool indoor snowboarding park in South Korea. Got to snowboard in June haha.

Sunday River Maine opened last Friday!!!! Only a couple of trails but it's a start!

For someone starting out I would go with used equipment, scrounge up things from friends, craigslist..... to make sure it's something you will stick with and after a couple of seasons you you can move on to better equipment once you have an idea of your riding style and the type of terrain you will be on (parks, groomers, back country, glades....)

Yeah man, been riding since I was 13 and now I'm 28, been a ski bum for the last eight years of my life with 100-120 day seasons every season(minus one last year, torn ACL+surgery=season over) and ride a ton a backcountry in the Teton range in WY...guess snowboarding is my life.

I think that Priors are great, handmade in Whistler boards. They are making skis this year to. Having only rode it yesterday (and many more to come:D), I love it. I have the All mountain Freestyle SPLITBOARD (splits in half like skis for skinning to get DEEP into the backcountry), which is a true twin tip and has rockered tips(reverse camber) and that thing was poppin out of the deep very easily and was very easy to skin with.

That said, I think that just about any board that you dont buy at sports authority, or one of those kinda shops will be great nowdays. Burtons, Rides, Sims and a few other brands MASS produce boards that they sell cheap at these places and they are good beginner boards but suck as you get better. Burton, Ride, and Sims ALSO make very good models that you have to pay more for at places like board shops....well worth it (specially during the summer sales of LAST years shit)

Personally, I like Lib Tech, Neversummer, and Jones boards. I like my powder board to have REVERSE camber(rockered tips) some relatively new tech that pops u out of the deep snow much better and makes it easier to land airs off cliffs, rocks, ect...Reverse camber can now be found on skis and is becoming the industry standard for Big mountain riding....Riding groomers all day, which I rarely do anymore, I like to have MAGNATRACTION...also new tech in which the edge is kinda wavy giving you multiple contact points and making the egde really grab the ice, not slip like a conventional edge. My park and pipe board is a 155 Libtech skatebananna with magnatrac..

As you can see you got a lot a options out there, just got to try some out at demos, ask a local guru at a shop, or just buy one and get out there! Everyone has their own preference of size, shape and width:D:D, and most of the upper end boards today are going to work just fine...IMO Jesus, I could go on and on about this all day....I love this shit!!

yeah i know what you mean, started skiing at the age of 2, age of 6 i was on a board, i snowboard usually 110 day average, i am an instructor, and snowboard coach, volunteered at the local board shop, when it was busy, and i was waiting for some walk in lessons to arrive. NO ONE tunes my board but me, my edges are tuned/detuned by me, waxed by me ( i have over 200 dollars of waxing equipment), and repaired by me. The trouble living here is that everyone rides burton or forum. To get good info on other snowboards is quite difficult here. I want to get a prior snowboard, no one around here has even heard of them, let alone what a splitboard is. For now i am not gonna get a split board since i am not trekking through enough deep pow. But once i get out west i'm gona be gettin a splitboard avy beacon probe all the shit i need for back country riding. I am glad to see someone else on here that knows there shit abvout one of the greatest sports in existance.
