Doing good, bored with the lock down. Spring won’t start in Michigan, typical April. Hopefully go back to work the first of May.

Commissary is open on weekends for old folks (aka retirees) and masks necessary. So everyone was masked up but quite a few can't follow arrows or the 6' rule... at least they were masked up. Not so in tractor supply or harbor freight. No 6 feet or masks for quite a few...

OK...so rant about the RV dealer...its a long one so settle in.

Last Thursday 4/16 I first called and got the basic info on the camper. Talked with the sales guy again on Friday 4/17 and asked a few more questions.
I specifically told him that I:
    A) wanted to test out all plumbing including the water heater and asked if they could blow the lines out after.
    B) needed help getting it on the truck and getting the tie downs settled and
    C) that the only part I knew I didn't have was the cord that hooks up the electric from the camper to the truck so that the brake lights work. Its not a universal, one size fits all sort of thing so...
I told him that I would be in on Friday 4/24 and he said that they had a spot in the schedule for 10am. Great. That gives them a week to get the inspection done and get everything ready for me. Several other calls throughout the week. Mentioned the above three items at least a couple more times. No problem with any of it mentioned by the sales guy.
The lot at the dealer is a U shape. You drive in the middle of the U and a fenced yard with RVs is on either side of you. And the end of the drive is the main showroom and service center. At the right is a staging area where they bring out the RVs that are getting picked up.
When I got there at 940 my camper wasn't in the staging area, it was still behind the fence. So I went into the showroom and the receptionist is on the phone. I saw the sign for the restrooms so I headed back there and then back to the front desk. Stood there for almost a full minute and the receptionist flat out ignored me. I said excuse me. Her head snapped up and she sort of off-handed asked if I had been helped. No, that's why I'm standing here you dumb :censored: . I told her I was there to see the salesman, Darren. Ok, he's on the phone. Fine. So I stand around for another 15 minutes. I ask her if she let him know I was there. Yep. OK. Next thing I know he comes out of the sales offices and introduces himself to me. Tells me he didn't know I was there. No one had told him I had been waiting. I gave the receptionist a look. She's on the phone again.
He takes me out to the camper and we do a quick walkthrough. I go through all of the cabinets, stove, heater, AC, climb up the ladder to check out the roof, back inside and I turn on the faucet. Nothing. I ask if they put water in it and why the faucet isn't working. Oh, no the techs always winterize it after they de-winterized it for their inspection. I reminded him that I wanted to check out the plumbing and water heater. OK, well they'll have to bring it back into the shop to put water in and that will take about an hour. How about we go in and take care of the paperwork now while they do that. No. Fucking hell no. I want to check everything out. So I leave for 90 minutes, come back and a different guy comes out. Says he's going to finish my walkthrough with me. Ok. I go in and turn on the tap. Ice cold. Why isn't the water heater working? Oh, they didn't turn it on, don't worry it only takes about 15-20 minutes to warm it up. Great but that 15 or 20 minutes could have been happening while I was gone and not while I'm standing there waiting again. OK. Well, why don't you get the camper on the truck while you wait? Fine. Are you helping me with that or is someone else? Oh, we don't do that. NEWS TO ME. I specifically told the sales guy that I was going to need help. I didn't bring any tools. The tie-downs are still in the boxes. They can't touch anything, they don't have any tools. I pretty much lost it at this point. Why didn't someone tell me this before I drove over by myself? I could have brought someone with me. I could have gotten the tie downs prepped at home. I had to drive over to the ACE hardware store to buy a wrench to take off my tailgate. $10 for two bolts. Then I had to carry the gate off by myself, thankfully it wasn't that heavy. Then I try to get parked and not wreck the camper but they put it so close to the curb that I've only got about 6 inches to move back and forth and get the truck lined up. The guy finally came out and I told him that they needed to put the camper back on the dolly and pull it back a few feet so I had room to maneuver the truck. He stayed out there to help me get backed in but he ended having me so crooked that I would have been better to do it by myself. So after going forward and reverse a hundred times and somehow not hitting the camper, I was in place. Took me another hour to get the tie-downs assembled. The water heater finally works. I go in to sign everything and they bring it back into the shop to blow out the lines. It's after 300 at this point. While I'm waiting for my truck and camper to come out of the shop I remember that I didn't hook up the power for the brake lights. I can't find either of the guys I've been dealing with. The truck comes out and I go to hook it up myself. But I can't find the cord. Back into the showroom, I go. Finally, find the second guy that I was dealing with and told him I can't find the cord. We go out, go through the cabinets again. I told him to get Darren, I had told him that I needed this and its nowhere to be found. Can't find Darren. Back in we go to the parts manager. Parts manager looks in their computer, nothing. Calls the other dealers in town, nothing. The cord is a special order item, no one has one in stock. Why the hell not? Did I ask about it a week ago? Why the hell wasn't it ordered then? So they take the truck and camper back into the shop again and get to work wiring in a new plug. At this point its a little after 4, they close at 5. I go back to the waiting area. I finally see Darren out on the sales floor and I went over and lit into him. I pretty much lost it at this point and chewed his ass for a good 10 minutes. He told me that he personally had looked for the cord and it was there. Then go tell the techs where it's at because they're working to rewire a new one in. He goes back, few minutes later he's back with me. Oh, it was the 30 amp to 110-volt cord I saw, not the brake cord. I lit into him again. The only three items I asked him about he either flat out lied to me or dropped the ball and didn't get it done. He walks away and goes back into the sales offices that have the two-way mirror in the windows. I don't see him the rest of the time that I'm there, the coward. About 445 all of the other customers are gone. Cashier at the parts counter closes out her till. Half the staff leave for the day. I decide to start pacing in front of the parts counter instead of waiting in the customer area in the back for fear that they'll lock me in for the night. At 515 they pull my truck back out. I go out to see what they had to do to get me lights and see a passable but not great plug Frankensteined up. The cord rubs up against the cab. Don't you have a plug that has a 90* to it? No. OK, fuck you too. I walked around to make sure the doors and cubbies were locked tight, checked the tie-downs again, and took off. No thank you for being so patient with my unparalleled incompetence from the salesman. If I had seen him in the lot as I drove away it would have taken some will power not to run him over.
I know that they're going to do a follow up call this week and sorry to the poor person who will get to listen to my tirade firsthand. I know none of my experience will be their fault but they need to know how shitty their service is. I will never set foot in that place again. And if I can help it neither will any of my family or friends. I was keeping in touch with my folks throughout the day and they are about as mad as me. I know that if it wasn't for the COVID thing right now they would have driven over with me. Not sure it would have helped but at least I would have had a little back up. Not sure if they were taking advantage of me being a girl on my own or what.

they were pretty much done kissing my ass long before i signed the paperwork and didn't try to make amends after. i have never been treated so poorly. i know that some can assume that a girl can be walked on but i do my research and know my shit ahead of time. usually guys will get back in line once they realize that they're not dealing with some idiot. wasnt the case here.

the sales guy actually started to back away from me when I was chewing him out the last time. he's 6' something. I'm 5'5 and he was scared of me  let's just say that both sides of my family have a bit of a temper and I think I inherited both of those genes! I might look sweet and innocent but if you cross me and back me in a corner you're going to see that temper come out. Doesn't happen often but when it does....

thats one way to summarize it!
