I have a 2013 Tacoma. Went to change the drivers side headlight. The bulb is stuck in the rubber boot. Any suggestions on how to get the old bulb out without ripping the rubber boot? I was able to undo the clip to remove the bulb from the headlight assembly with the rubber stuck on it. The rubber boot is stuck on it good, unfortunately bought the truck used so this is my first time having to change the bulb.

Welcome! Are you saying the bulb has been removed from the truck and the boot is stuck on the bulb? I wouldn’t be afraid of applying a bit of brute force.

Yes that is exactly what I was trying to say. Tried pulling the bulb and boot apart and it is stuck really good was afraid of ripping the rubber.

Try rotating the bulb to free it? Or you could try using a penetrating lube like PB blaster. Strange issue to have, I’ve never heard of that happening.

It does happen. Try a little soapy water, since the old bulb is junk anyway

Yeah I’m gonna try tomorrow when it’s light out. Gave up for tonight since the battery on my spot light died. Yeah really strange never had that happen to me before with any other vehicles. But I do seem to have some weird vehicle issues. Thanks for the suggestion!

My wife had a 2005 Rav4 and I ran into the same thing.

On the plus side, I snapped the clip off changing one of mine last fall so I just secured it back on with the boot. So far I've had zero issues with it moving or letting moisture in.

Got the clip off without any issue. Just can’t get the old bulb out of the rubber boot and didn’t want to rip the boot.

I had the same problem with my 2013 Tacoma and it was a pain to get out on passenger side. I managed to pull them apart after heating them up in front of my garage heater, came right apart.
