Upgrading my 2004 Double Cab TRD

What rear bumper is that?

 

Ended up with 285/75/16 KO2s

39-1/2” from ground to fender front and rear after putting everything back on

 

It’s custom made from the guys here local. I posted a link for you guys to check out. He does awesome work. Can build you whatever you want

 

@Black-River , WOW, is all I can say, Truck looks fantastic. When you get some free time, you want to come over and fix mine up for me.

@Black-River I wish I owned some private land to hunt on. I spent 20 years hunting on game lands here in N.C. . I'd like to contact some of those "hunting" shows, where they always score a nice buck. Tell them boys, to come on down to N.C. and lets see what you can accomplish hunting on the game lands here, with shit tons of competition with other hunters. I've walked many a mile in these hills and mountains. The only nice buck I ever killed here was on private land about 2007 or 2008. Decent 10 pointer that I had mounted. He's right above me hanging on the wall. I lived in Laurel Mississippi way back in the late 60's early 70's. Was there when Hurricane Camille came through, what a mess.

 

You made the right call. Saved a shit ton of money too.

 

Found this on Facebook Marketplace yesterday and picked it up today!

It’s in mint condition. Will be having it painted hopefully in the next few weeks to match the truck. This truck is emptying my pockets! But once you do one thing you think of more you want to do!

 

If you don't get it painted, you can spend that money on some other mod. We're all a bunch of red neck Hillbilly's here on TW, so no one will fault you if it's not a matching color. At least it's not red!!

Looks sweet. I personally like the white shell over color matched. Also I went to junkyard and pulled the rack off a late nineties 4Runner and attached it to my shell. It’s super light weight and matches trim. I really like the your black rock rails, but I think the Crome would look better on my truck. Good job on your resurrection!

 

@Black-River and remember this, if your taking a nap in your new camper shell one day while out fishing, the white color will help reflect heat, where a darker color will absorb heat. Now you have a valid scientific excuse for not painting it to match.

 

How much did the paint job run you if you don't mind me asking

 

Thoughts on those Kenda Tires? Sweet rig!

 

Think I got the tires, mount, balance and out the door for like 600. For the money they were pretty dang good tires. They wore pretty quick but wore even and were fairly quiet for the big tread they had.

 

What are you running in the rear to accommodate for the topper weight? I noticed today that I have some sag and I don’t even have anything in the bed besides the topper

 

I installed the Toytec Billstein 5100 kit with coils in front and add a leaf in the rear. In retrospect I didn’t need the coils in the front without a heavy front bumper, so there is an extra 1” in front and I have a bit of sag in the rear too but it’s not from the topper. Ideally I would have used the factory coils and would have had more choices for the front height to keep the truck more level.
You could add adjustable shackles to the rear to level it out but read up a bit about doing it because it can be problematic; like squeaking and twisting. No bueno.
My guess is your rear bumper weighs more than the topper, therefore I would probably choose the add a leaf for rear lift over larger shackles. IMHO

Thanks for your reply! Ill do some more reading. I called the guys at Wheeler's yesterday and they were super helpful, as they always are. He suggested their single AAL if i was looking at not spending a whole lot. But my best option would be to purchase a new leaf pack since my springs had 260K on them.
