Which tunes does the Tune Pack include specifically? Anyone for a 2020?

I unfortunately missed out on the "2.0" tune product.. is that tune included?

Yes it will be, according to Mat. But it's not available for your ECU yet.

What needs to be ordered from the VF Tuners site for tuning a 2016 Tacoma. It’s not really clear on the site. They have a 3.5 Tacoma tuning package and the VF Tuner License.
Also what cable is need and where is the best place to buy.

That would be me:hattip: I was hoping the tune packs would include all prior versions of the tune per ecu i.e. 1.04 through 2.0 final including test tunes,as many of us liked certain features of prior tunes such as tip in ect.. that could be "copied" and used in our own custom tunes.

In my case 04B13 The original FOB tune and then the BFO test tune were outstanding tunes but lacked the single table file of 2.0. The BFO test file, the original catless dump tube file and the subsequent catless 2.0 test file all ran well with no CEL, yet the 2.0 final gives me a cel. I would be very interested into digging into those files and seeing what was going on and creating a "hybrid" custom tune with the data points from them.

    @OVTune

Also, feedback on the portability and P5F question?

I appreciate the clarification. Rafael should edit his post on the previous page, and maybe the first post here to clarify. The way I read those posts conflicts with what you said.

Would be great to post and maintain a list of compatible ECUs on the OV Tune product page. Seems as if it would clear up the same question many people have...

Understandable. Everyone is just going stir crazy being stuck at home. I know a lot of the OG crew are really looking forward to VF and customizing tunes to our liking. 2.0 (for the MT at least) is about as perfect as it can be as a base tune. Obviously everyone has slightly different preferences, but overall it's damn good.

I was going to hold off sending out my dongle, but I'll go ahead and send it today.

By portability do you mean what’s needed to tune, period? I sent my dongle back last week and just got my reg key yesterday, tuned last night. Switching from pcm to p5f means I eliminated the dongle (obviously) and the USB hub I needed to use because my laptop only had 1 port. Now it’s just tactrix between OBD and USB and ready to flash, a lot less stuff to mess with, for me at least? Hope this helps

No, I mean not being tied to a single computer for tuning. That was the biggest advantage of having a dongle. I am disappointed to learn that VF uses P5F and a reg key. It's nice that VF itself can be installed on another computer, but to actually flash a tune you have only one option.

I understand the lack of being able to easily move the software around, but the thing is vF tuner is not compatible at all with the dongles so without it you wouldn't be able to use vF at all.

Oh, I completely understand. Not really complaining, just an observation I guess. Gotta accept things for what they are and move on. VF is the new deal, so P5F it is!

Clarification for the FLASH KIT customers.

    Terms:
Dongle = Guardant USB. It's usually black or purple. It plugs into your laptop and nothing else is attached to it.
Tactrix = It plugs into your vehicle's OBD2 port and USB port of your laptop. It's the main hardware to use to enable reading the ECU, writing/flashing/uploading flash tunes, and datalogging.

There are two (2) types of Flash Kit customers:
    1) Tactrix-only
    2) Tactrix and Dongle

For the Tactrix and Dongle Flash Kit Customers, they can:
    1) Return the dongle, and they get vF tuner for free ($0)

For the Tactrix-only Flash Kit Customers, they can:
    1) Buy vF Tuner for substantially reduced amount ($79)
    -----
(Topic I promised to get back to in my last post)
For the HANDHELD customers (who purchases the vF Tuner), will they be able to edit and save their tunes in vF, then transfer that tuned file to their handheld?

Yes. There will be a special version for handhelds that will work. OFT versions
    ------
For the FLASH KIT customers (dongled and non-dongled) who purchase the vF tuner. Will they receive their tune files? And do they need to buy the Tacoma vF Tune pack?

Yes they will receive tunes and they don't have to purchase the tune packs

Thanks Rafael! Again, for clarification, are you differentiating between editable and non-editable "tune packs", or are they all editable? Specifically, I am a dongle user trading in for $0, do I get a tune pack that I can then edit myself to suit my preferences?

will vF only work on OFT handhelds or will it also be compatible with older models?

This post by Mat indicates that Tune Pack tunes are editable. There is no mention of different types of tune packs (editable and not editable).

"Flash kit owners will get 1 tune pack free with their purchase of vF. ($79 or $0 if trading a dongle)
New customers need vF + tune pack purchase if they want to have our tunes to edit."

If you have the vF tuner, all files that are under your license will be editable.

For example, you have the vF Tuner and you decided to use/spend your initial credits* to open 04B04 ECU. You can open all tune files (stock, 1.05, 2.0, etc.) that are 04B04.

*All newly registered vF Tuner will have initial credits to open one (1) ECU.

Additional scenario to the example above:
Additional scenario 1) If you have another Tacoma that's also 04B04 ECU, you can edit that vehicle's ECU as well.
Additional scenario 2) If you have another Tacoma that has a 04B30 ECU, and you already used your initial credits to open the 04B04, you'll have to buy the vF Tuner Credits, then we'll put those credits to your vF Tuner, then you can spend those credits to open your 04B30 ECU.
Additional scenario 3) If you have another Toyota vehicle (let's say a Tundra) that has an ECU that's 0CN01, and you already used your initial credits to open the 04B04, you'll have to buy the vF Tuner Credits, then we'll put those credits to your vF Tuner, then you can spend those credits to open your 04B30 ECU.

For your specific case, you will have to determine what ECU ID you will open based on your car's ECU ID. 04B30? 04B31? 04B03? 04B41? 04B80? You can choose to open one (1) together with the vF Tuner software that Mat will set you up with. If you want to open other ECU IDs (other than the one you already spent on, presumably), you'll have to buy credits from our website, then use those credits to open a new type of ECU ID.
