FYI, they will give you approximately $2000 off the truck if you don’t take the 0%. 0% Is great especially if you’re going to be taking out a long loan but there is certainly a cost associated with it

For example, from the negotiations for my father’s RAV4. They were maxed out on discounts and said we could choose one.

I’m at the finances stage and finding that interest rates on new cars are not as low as overall rates. About 1 pt higher than 4 years ago. Why? What am I missing?

I did that on my SR when the rebate went from 1000 to 1500.

I picked up my 2020 TRD Sport 4x4 yesterday. MSRP was $45,386 and the selling price after rebate was 39,250+ttl. It ended up being about 13.5% off of MSRP. They also threw in a bed mat. I’m pretty happy with the deal overall. They gave me 39,000 on trade on my 2019 Tundra which was much better than I found anywhere else and it gave me some decent equity toward the new truck. I talked to a lot of dealers over the past few weeks and none wanted to go above 36,500 on trade and most were actually below that. The whole process was super smooth and the dealer made sure the truck and paperwork were ready to go.

EDIT: should have noted that I was trading a 2019 Tundra and not my old 2017 Taco.

It was a 2019 Tundra. Updated my post to include that important info. Now I’m going to update my vehicle info on here before I forget lol.

Tundy back to a Taco ? ... just questioning because gas is so cheap, seems like the best time to own a thirsty V8.

Not going to lie, that V8 was a thing of beauty. But the truck was just huge and wasn’t great as a daily driver. I felt like I was whipping a charter bus around town. It’s a great truck if you need the space or that much towing capacity, but it was overkill for me. I kind of bought it on impulse and then realized the Taco is just a much better fit me.

Same reason for keeping my 01 tundra so long before buying the tacoma....after 06 they just got too big. The 01 was a perfect size for me not to mention i still would of bought another if toyota built the same truck today.

Agree, I had one too ... it was the best for longer trips of 2 hrs +

Any news on the upcoming incentives?

I couldn't get the dealer I was working with to budge from 9% off MSRP before the rebate.

They claimed they were giving me 11% off MSRP but added paint protection and theft prevention. That brought it back down to 9%.

I walked hoping that incentives get better or the dealer gets desperate.

Almost 2 decades of Tacomas, I don’t see incentives changing maybe $2k like during model clearance time. If anything Toyota will adjust production to compensate before destroying resale/brand value with large incentives. I’d try another dealer should be no reason in this market to not get at least 13-15% off MSRP with rebate.
