Holy crap that's a beast. I've been watching some replanting videos this morning. If you find a good separation point you can take a shovel down through that and pull some out to replant elsewhere. It'll keep multiplying and the mother plant is probably long gone by now.

My sisters driveway wasn't a mowable area and would have just required weeding which she wasn't doing at the time. It was a channel of irises that ran down both sides. They bit off a bit more than they could chew with their house and the irises were one of the first sacrifices made. If it was now I don't know if she would let them go but she wasn't into it at the time and I was super bummed to not take advantage of it.

 

It’s not as bad as some say.
