Yep def a unicorn. I love the JBL and proximity keyless entry. Although I wouldn't mind rowing gears again.

Yeah mine on the 18 faded. Did you do the coating yourself or have it done? And if you dont mind me asking what did it cost if you had it done?

A little louder stereo would be sweet but I also love the rear seat compartment.

I've done some friends and my brother's cars but the taco is my baby so I had it professionally done as I'm still not an expert with the paint correction part and easier to do on a used explorer than a $40k Tacoma. Set me back $900 to have it paint corrected, CQuartz UK 3.0 and Dlux (2 coats) on the truck, tonneau, wheels, cover and had them do the instrument cluster too (since I know that scratches if you look at it the wrong way). I did a few trucks with Ceramic Pro (the over marketed warrantied one) and ran me about $1100 back in AZ, but after doing some research CQuartz UK actually holds up better in colder / salt climates so went that route this time.

Sometimes you just gotta do what you have to. I had to drive with the wife from the nw corner of connecticut to boston ma. to get a tacoma with what i wanted in it. I just couldn't deal with nearby toyota dealers at a reasonable price.

Same when I lived in Jersey, had to drive into PA to get a decent deal, worst dealers to work with were in NJ, best have been AZ.

Had a dealer here in NC tell me the truck I wanted was so “Unique” there was no room to discount it. I told the guy you either want to sell me a truck or you dont. Get the truck I want and lets negotiate a price and Ill buy it. They didn’t want to play so I went and found it myself.

The best is when they follow up asking if you want to try and put something together still or are in the market. I sometimes will email back with a picture of me and the new truck, nah brah you done f*cked up and lost a sale, lol.

I went back through and looked at my truck and looked at their report. I thought I was at 19 thousand at the end of the first year but I was over 21, I got it serviced in Iowa when I went back home to clean out my dads house, at that point I had it for less than 11 months and I was over 20 thousand.

Looking at a used 2018 DCSB OR, 18k miles. Price is $27,900. I feel like this is a great deal. Dealer had the truck listed as an SR, but visually it’s def an OR model, VIN confirms as well. Worth? Or should I wait for the new 2021 Tacomas...

Doesn’t sound like a bad deal, is there a reason to wait for a 21? They just did a minor refresh this year so I’d wonder if they’d be doing a complete overhaul for 21. I could be wrong and I have heard the rumors at the dealership about a possible diesel next year.

I know the Tundra is going to be a completely new truck next year, they are stopping productions of the Tacos in Texas to make the new Tundra at that plant, so maybe there’s a new Taco coming as well.

no reason to wait other than save up more money and pay off current debts. I’m itching to get into a Tacoma though, and if I could talk them down to 26-27k for a lightly used 2018 OR, I feel like that’s a steal. Plan to mod it over the years as well. Yeah I agree I think it’s just a refresh for 2021. I just really like the 3rd gens

New Taco isn’t till 2024, this was a mid cycle refresh. Info was leaked from a dealer meeting early this year. It’ll share the new TGNA frame with the new 2022 tundra and new T4R slated for 2023.

What’s the deal with the frame? I also heard the new Tundra is getting a new twin turbo v-6 in the line up. I haven’t seen any pictures but the salesman I talked to yesterday said he had, probably out there I’m just not invested in the Tundra so I don’t really care, anyway said he saw pictures with it wrapped and it had that curved mini van look I’d imagine like the new Rangers has.

There have been "rumors" floating around about a Tacoma diesel since kingdom come. It's not going to happen.

They have a few more years before the changeover to the new TNGA. Not enough time to bother with a new powertrain and they've committed to going hybrid in all their future platforms.

I understand the Rumors being around for ever and wouldn’t have paid it any attention except for it came from the service manager at the Toyota dealership, and the fact the Chevy and Ford both had the option I could imagine they’d want to, but I’d imagine you are correct about hybrids in the future platforms.
