Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Been wheeling Toyotas for 45 years never seen it. I used them plenty to move the truck on my manuals. Never replaced one. Batteries? Toyota batteries suck. But anything is possible.

It’s essentially correct except for my not understanding Map 3 operation correctly. You’ll figure it out as you mess around with the 2.0f test tune.

One thing you’ll really enjoy is the @MESO shift knob ECT button. Once you get it installed you’ll wonder how you ever did without it. Absolutely essential

 

Little funny facts..

 

Well I was using the ect button exclusively before OVTUNE, but since I have not. Didn’t know I had to use it for the performance option. I believe this is new. I’m pretty sure it was not used for the performance function on the 1.05. @OVTune could u please confirm? I thought that running the 91 tune was the performance tune? Not that u have to push the ect button within the 91 tune for the performance function? I just really would like to know 100% the designed use. Thanks

BTW, for anyone running 2.0 Final with M/T - Techstream shows PORT injection mode any time you're at a hot idle and not in DI cleaning cycle (running 04B41 SFOB regular).

For us at least, you wanna spray your intake valves - IDLE.

Ya, with 2.0 final you get 3 tune maps in one file with octane learning. In 2.0f, ECT is used to turn on performance mode in D and Tow mode in S. That’s why that shifter button is a must!

 

Yeah, too much carbon on the intake valves must have locked her up

 

Not sure it matters but I did remove the negative battery cable for an extended period of time.

I don't know what the person exactly meant by his description of the problem, but fact is the tune is causing startup problems.
The Issue is documented in the file I sent you.
IMHO, A little bit of transparency will help a lot of people to stay informed.

And the tune cannot be causing the starter to not engage. This shows how little you know about the trucks electronics.

This happened on my 2017. I am on my third battery. Finally found what was causing my slow battery drain. Turned out to be a bad relay on an aftermarket wiring harness.
