It’s a pretty neat story. My advocacy mentors worked hard on that change in use. Change in use is difficult in normal circumstances. In Marin that’s quite a win! I love it.

What county are you in? Most counties have soft openings which mean you can use trails as long as you don’t drive.

I hate these steps that came with my truck. They’re only good for bruising my shins and collecting snow. I know this is likely a dumb question, but what do I need to remove them? I just had surgery and can’t crawl under to see how they’re attached but I can order tools :) while I recover. (my ex took most of the tools. Which is fine) I have plans for my truck after SIP is lifted. In the meantime I can get going on small things.

If they’re anything like other OEM steps.. like 6-8 bolts per side into the rockers.

I’ve seen people cut the step portion off and leave the tube part. Looks good but not functional as a slider as they bolt to the body (8ish bolts per side like @T4RFTMFW said) and do more damage then help if you come down on them.

My truck came with the goofy 4” tubing nerf bar. I’d ditch them but my kids and wife use them.

NP. I think you'll find that many parks are opening soon but I'm going to bet their parking lots will still be closed to discourage people from coming unless they live near by. It'll be a while before the lots open up. Soon!

Marin fortunately never closed the parks or open spaces, they just closed the parking at the trailheads. So if you can ride or hike to then you were legally in the clear. People have still been driving to them and I can’t blame them. We are super fortunate because we have trail access on our street. This whole thing would suck 10 fold if we couldn’t use our open spaces.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Buddy of mine just got stopped down in SD in a nature preserve that is off limits to motorized vehicles... By 2 cops on motorcycles... Told him it was closed but he could go for a run on a 5' side walk where it was harder to do social distancing.

Awesome. Bolts I can handle. After reading so many threads on here I know I won’t be doing much of what I want on my truck myself. Yikes. This I think I can handle :bananadance::bananadance::bananadance:

Definitely taking these off. Too many shin bruises and a lot of cussing. :D I may have invented a few new curse words.

It's been quite frustrating because, when you think about it, there are relatively few who live within walking distance (ours are closed to horses and mtb) and we are not supposed to drive. I can walk down the street and go to a city park but no dogs, no basket ball so what is anyone gonna do there? I get it but I don't understand some of the logic.

I should add that almost all of the preserves are only accessible by car.

Yeah I totally agree. Marin is a little différent because the open space is more integrated into the neighborhoods, so it’s a bit easier to access. But it’s still not necessarily accessible in every neighborhood.

People need an outlet and enjoying open space seems like a great, safe option if managed appropriately.
