6 inch lift kit

I am thinking about getting a 6 inch lift kit.. I have been looking at the rough country 6 inch lift kit with extended struts, no spacers. Does anyone have this setup? If so, how do you like it and have you had any issues with it?

I don't have it, but from what most people around here say, the rough country uses cheap parts. They go for BDS lifts instead.
Also, you don't plan to take this offroad (even light offroad/fire roads) correct?

 

Yeah I’ve been doing some reading and everyone is bashing them but $1,300 vs 3,000 or 4,000 I need to know the differences. The only reason I want this lift is for appearance only the only off road I will be doing will be a flat gravel road haha I don’t want to spend a crap ton on a expensive lift when I’m doing 0 amount of off-roading.

 

Gotcha, make sure you do your full research on other stuff like the needle bearing when you are lifting at any height. Just use the search bar, plenty of threads on lifting.

 

I haven’t used any of their stuff (rough county) for Toyota’s, but when I had my Jeep their stuff was always considered lower end. Cheap shocks, brackets were thinner gauge and often required some adjustment to work etc... will it work, yea. Is it the highest quality, no? Are you looking for the lift just for aesthetics or do you plan to off-road?

 

I'm looking at drop bracket lifts as well and I'm leaning towards BDS with fox 2.5 with resis full length fronts and 2.0 extended rears. I'm honking about going with them for their reputability and good reviews.

 

It's a one way street but we have reverse. So not ideal to have to reverse back down a road, however, not impossible.

I will be doing zero amount of off-roading. Just for looks the RC 6 inch is around 1,300 where as the bds is around 2,200.

 

I would lean towards the bds kit, better reputation, better shocks.

 

It's a potential rabbit hole similar to long travel, when it comes to maintenance and stuff breaking by itself even when not off-roading.

I'm sure there are loads of dudes on a rough country drop bracket lift with no problems so it really comes down to you. I think that extra money that a BDS kit costs translates to quality. Their website literally says that if a part breaks they will send you a new one without questions.

 

Just do a 3 inch front and 1 inch rear spare lift kit. Way cheaper. Way less problems. What’s the advantage of the extra bit of lift?

 

Get a superlift suspension kit I had a 3 inch on my Silverado about to buy one for my Tacoma with new upper control arms Moog bushings they make off-road suspensions for 30 plus years for keeps and just branched out to other manufacturs and they are reasonable. I installed mine by myself in about 12 hours.

 

Alot of false info. 6in lifts are fine. My 06 was esentially the same suspension as the current 3rd gen. I ran 37s. Drove the hell out of it and ZERO issues. I mean ZERO. Do your research and buy quality parts. Nothing wrong with drop brackets ( I speak from experience).

 

What size tires were able to fit with the lift? Nice looking truck!

 

Bought the truck with 6in and 35s. UCA, coilovers with Alcan leaf pack I was able to fit 37s. Better shocks = better ride. Camburg was my choice. The secret is quality parts.

 

6" DB lift here. From experience, I love it. I have more droop than the people without DB lift. More control on the trail. All wheels are always planted on the ground.

A lot of people don't understand a DB lift and they just voice their opinions without having actual experience with them.

My advice, be sure you want the body to be that tall. Cutting out the crossmember, there's really no going back. If you do cut it, make sure you get full length coilovers and add a leafs in the rear to eliminate front and rear spacers.
