Suggestions how to fill lower 1/4 panels rock damage

Any suggestions on a wax or sealant that fills the sandblasted pain on the lower fenders behind the wheel and in front? I tried scratch remover but as soon as it rains it looks like shit again. Is there a sealer that will not wash ways the scratch remover or a filler that will help?

 

Hard to tell to what you are referring. Looks like dirt from the pictures. Wash it and wax it.

 

That is washed and waxed actually. That is the area of the lower fender right in front of the wheel well.

 

How deep is it? Maybe clay, touch up, clear coat, wet sand progressively polish seal.

Just curious- do you drive a lot of gravel roads? That’s a LOT of road rash. Gonna have to remove a lot of clear coat to clean up those chips. I wouldn’t do it myself. It’s just gonna keep happening.

You could hit it with a machine polisher and then get new PPF film over a larger area.

 

I drive a lot in the snow and on snow covered back roads in the winter. I never expected that kind of road rash on the front side of the wheel well. I expected to see it on the rear behind the tire without mud flaps, but it's much worse in the front and even the protective film seems like it's getting beat up, which makes no sense....

 

It’s debris coming off the front wheels, I presume.

Wondering if they come out further than stock if that has anything to do with it?

 

They stick out about an inch.

damage is done, you effectively sandblasted the areas with the size of tires, poke, and no flaps/guards for protection. best you could do is cover it with clear stone protector decal, or have the bottom of the truck repainted. there is no easy fix for this type of damage. Ski

 

You mention you tried a scratch remover and then it reappears after it rains. What product are you using?

 

I tried the Nu Finish Scratch Remover which worked a little and didn't make it so noticeable. Then I put wax over it, but for it seems like as soon as it rained it was back to looking pretty bad again....

 

The reason most every "scratch remover" will do exactly what you saw is that they have a ton of fillers in them. These fillers do exactly what their name implies and make it look like the scratch (or pits in your case) have disappeared. As you have found, the effect is indeed temporary. Unfortunately, the only real fix for your situation is a repaint.

 

Mud flaps may not look cool but they will help save your paint. I also put vinyl wrap along the bottom 15 inches of my truck and it has held up great after 2 years.
