Part of me wants to flash back to stock just to feel the difference. 2.0 test is pretty solid though.

    Ok.
    Follow up questions.
Why do we have port injection on this engine?
Cutting PI+DI off, how is this version of the tune will deal with carbon build up on intake valves during the ownership period of the truck?
Still need answers on why I did not see PI+DI in specified conditions- <2500 rpms and heavier load per your statement. I put the numbers before.

How about you do a tear down of your motor so we can see this terrible carbon buildup you supposedly have?

You would need to use an Otoscope to see the buildup... it isn't in the motor, and it isn't carbon.

Just a bystander here that’s been reading for days off and on. OVTune is so much more responsive to the very few negative guys that come on this thread but basically sees the rest as somewhat invisible. Granted there are so many comments that aren’t worth replying to as they’re just jargon. However someone has a question here the quickest way to get a long drawn out conversation is to get under his skin.... then he talks to that person for days.

This comment isn’t intended to insult the developer by any means. My point is that the negative guys seem to draw much of your attention here rather than the guys that actually are understanding and patient as well as willing to help at a moments notice.

I’ll honestly be glad when 2.0 is released just so I’m not ever viewing this thread again. Hopefully it’s a good tune for my weird 2019 but if not, I’ll swap back to 19800 and deal with the two quirks it had with 3-4 early shift and the stumble at wide open throttle. Both are easier to tolerate than the weird throttle it has now. And if not, I purchased vf tuner so maybe the added $80 will allow me to keep 2.0 as it is but with 19800 throttle control. If vf tuner can’t do that I’ll ask for refund on vf tuner and swap to 19800 and that’ll be my final tune.

Why do we have port injection on this engine?
Multiple reasons, only one of which being related to "Carbon."
At lower loads and low engine speeds port injection can provide some benefit to homogeneous engine air charge.
in certain conditions this can produce more torque and better efficiency and more stable combustion.

However, there are side effects to this. Not all of the fuel is always properly atomized and can remain on the intake port wall.
This is why port injection timing is also a critical component to calibrating an engine.

Now, this is assuming you have a calibration that can take maximum advantage of this.
however the Toyota OEM calibration uses a, less than robust, passive based fuel logic.
This means that unlike OTHER calibrations on the market that accurately model and predict exact Air to Fuel Ratios, using multiple tables modeled for Volumetric efficiency, air charge, air density, manifold pressure, cylinder air distribution, metal thermal properties, etc. Toyotas logic is passive in the sense it takes the current Air Fuel mixture reading and makes fuel adjustments from that.

Given this, there is a "window" of Air Fuel being delivered, and never a precise measurement, down to the 0.01 difference in fuel to air.
Toyotas calibration takes these readings and run them through a logic channel that either increases or decreases fuel by certain amounts to get back to stoic.

This idea is ...a "better" version of late 90's tech.

So, While Toyotas hardware (engine) is a "lamborghini" in a sense, the calibration that controls it is a "Ford Pinto." (when comparing to other calibrations).

I don't know why I am even explaining this I am sure you don't even care.

PI + DI was not cut off, only modified.. I only changed the parameters in which it was used. I cannot be certain that you met all the criteria required by the ECU at that time to use both injection systems.

I honestly have no problem explaining this stuff to any of you guys. Positive, Negative, side line.

It's the negatives that say things that can make big impacts on what we do. I know you guys don't see it but last time we had all this crap going on with Vlady and mis fires I was getting several return requests, people trying to cancel orders.

ALL because they thought their trucks would be misfiring with the tune. Some people legitimately thought their truck would run on 5 cylinders after reading past comments.

    I am going to bed.

I have a 2019 Tacoma that, to me, has never had a satisfactory tune yet since purchase. 1.05 never worked. I’ve only used betas since purchase. Of the betas I’ve been lucky to be able to try the latest which is the worst (to me) and many others stated the same issue with the throttle as it’s very important. Anyone that doesn’t have a 2019 or hasn’t been in a 2019 under the new beta can’t fathom how annoying this truck is to drive from a stop to go unless you floor it then it’s as usual.

I’ve also experienced 19770??? Or something like that. Lord help anyone in bumper to bumper traffic and taking off on gravel. Wife griped at me time and time again for me to please stop doing that yet I had no control to stop the aggressive acceleration from a start.

The previous beta, 19800 was absolutely perfect with the throttle and acted as a normal vehicle should. Sadly it had two noticeable quirks. Another sad thing is those two quirks were bad yet still don’t add up to the pain of the new throttle on the most recent beta. It’s unexplainable in words how bad it is now for my 2019.

All this said I’ve still not asked for a refund or chargeback or whatever. Just keep hoping it’ll work itself out in the end if not I’ve wasted a large amount of money with no way to resolve after 2.0 final is released unless I can spend countless hours learning how to do something I already paid someone else to do.

Good stuff. Good night. Hoping to get answers on submitted data and your original statement regarding port usage below 2500..
And the post #, email, etc. where I was offered a refund.

I'd want the best for my business, too, but maybe the people who want refunds because they couldn't identify a troll, and would rather take that person's opinion in the face of your data, aren't worth the energy it takes to chase down as customers. That's just me.

Also, I will not quote a troll's post, but they are throwing the word "data" around like they have some showing the truck is running "incorrectly." It is running differently, and better. That's why we pay Matt, and that's what a tune is.

@OVTune , in my experience, the best way to confront this troll is to avoid it. Responding with a rebuttal typically ends with further negative interactions that ruin the thread for the rest of us.

ONe of my favorite quotes by William L Watkinson goes like this: It is far better to light the candle than to curse the darkness.

Thanks for getting this tune to where we are today. You've made lots of taco owners very happy thus far!

I get that you don't love everything about a given tune, but no one was promised that they would. You paid him for tunes 1.0 or whatever through 2.0, knowing none of them were custom made for you. It was always a gamble. Now, because he took input for a couple versions, everyone thinks they are owed something. I bought a tractor mounted snowblower that wound up not working well for me and sold it at a huge loss. Sometimes that's how it goes.

Matt is taking a beating because he tried to go above and beyond and include people in the development and it's fucking ridiculous.

As a owner of my own business I understand where Mat is coming from. A happy customer will tell a friend or three, but a unhappy customer will tell ten or fifty. He is right in contradicting the false statements and informing us of the "fake news".
Just know Mat that you make an excellent product.

Sounds like the whole forum is willing to chip in and give you a refund. Please take it

The guy bought a tune in the beta phase. Complains about complainers in his post before, then adds himself to the list. Perhaps if he cant handle being on the bleeding edge, or cant be patient, sit on the sidelines next time. Take it as a lesson learned about yourself.

So after the comment made by JA TE I followed up on my harness connection and there was a loose connection. Tightened that up and BOOM. Started right up! Like I said I knew it wasn’t a tune related issue. I just heard a similar sound that came up when I tuned it. Lo and behold someone on TW has experienced the same thing and was kind enough to respond. I love that about the forum which is what I thought I was for. Not all this other B.S. that spills out every damn day. Thanks to all involved that helped my diagnose the issue. @destin_meeks @JaTe. @OVTune Keep doing what you doing bro! Thank for for helping provide a product that makes me enjoy it 100x more than I did before the tune. Only to get better again with the final 2.0!

The new 2019 beta for me is by far the best tune I’ve used. If it was a final I’d be stoked. Drives awesome
