Yes, it can stretch/flex better without tearing, plus at higher angles each bellow doesn't touch the next. OE can make contact and when dirt gets in between them, they rub together and wear out sooner. So this reduces the chance of that friction point.

Hahaha, don't worry about it Phil, just keep an eye on them.

OE boots you can see when they're wearing bad. The rubber would get pitted sort of. I don't think it's worth preemptively replacing them.

But while I'm posting stuff, Phil, have you seen the tents, awnings, and fridges we offer??? hahahaha https://exitoffroad.com/shop-by-category Don't click that link PHIL!!!!!!

Cool, do you all have any real world testing on the silicone? I have talked to a few people running the silicone inner boots and they all say they are great, then they say they have been running them a 2 or 3 thousand miles so thats not really a test. I like the inners because the ribs are further apart and will rub less but the price and no real testing keeps me going back to OEM because people have ran them 2 and 3 hundred thousand miles before replacing. I have never really thought about running the outer, I don't think I have ever need to replace an outer from wear but I am going to look into them.

I don't have any myself, I'm still running OE's on mine. These boots have been out for at least 18 months, and never had a complaint from anyone on them.

My thoughts are that since they can stretch sooooo much, they're more likely to resist a puncture too. The outers are normally more protected and less likely to get jacked up. I'm not sure why Dobinsons didn't make inners as well.

Back in my IFS Suzuki days, it was always the inner boots on those that would pop or tear as well.

It will be interesting to see the reviews in a few years, I always do the boot slide mod on the OEM inners and have never had any issues with them but if anyone ever does a comparison test that show an advantage I will try them. But right now for the price to do two CVs in silicone I can buy three sets of OEM. I am not knocking the silicone I just would like to see some test that says they are better.

Man, that sounds so good. What's the sitch with camping up there? Still plenty of places to go within the rules? Here in Florida, the only places to camp are in private campgrounds or privately owned springs. Plus it's so hot here already too

    Like, so many.
They are already allowing people in. I heard the line to get in the park on Saturday was forever long.

The reason I had to redo mine were because of the outers. FJ buddy poked a hole in one of his outers also. I don't think I've seen a bad inner yet. I'll give these a go next time around.

Strange I have seen quite a few inners and the only outer I remember was the last cv I broke was the outer joint and it got the boot too. I must have seen yours too being I rebuilt them, getting old does thing to the memory lol. I am very interested to see how the silicone do.
