have some american racing 16" tephlon plated wheels and 315/75/R16 xterrains and its putting the tire like an 1/8" away from the front spindle, anyone know of a good black style rim with the proper backspacing for some decent spindle clearance? or are the tires I have just to fat period had no problem with the BFG all terrains before them.

The easiest thing to do at this point is to find out what your current backspacing is. You didn't specify which model of American Racing wheels you have, so I cant tell you.

But, if you like your current wheels, the cheapest option is to go with some bolt on spacers. (dont do the non-bolt on since they're not really the safest, illegal to run in some states, and will require you to get longer lugs.) About the thinnest you can get would be 1", but Spidertrax (the top of the line brand) has them in 1.25" only. If you go with this option, I'd only get one set to start as the rear doesn't really need it and its likely you wont be able to tell if they're on the rear or not.

With your tire choice, moving it out another inch is really going to make it stick out the sides, but you'll see the exact same thing if you go with 1" less backspacing as well.

the rims i have are AX3981 mojave teflon which are the ones 4wheelparts threw on cause the steel scrawlers i wanted were the wrong hub size but i never got the backspacing info on them just figured 4wheelparts knew what they were doing not to mention i was excited that they gave me 300.00ea rims for the price of a steel crawler probably helped that slip my mind...know that i need a max of 4" back spacing for a 6" fabtech lift

If they're 16 or 17", they have 4.5" backspacing, so if you want to push the wheels out more, you want 4" or less.

You might want to try looking at what Procomp has for wheels, but with a 16x8, 4" of backspacing is about the lowest you're going to find. A negative offset will also help a bit.

Something like http://www.procompusa.com/prodDetail.aspx?partno=PXA8069-6883 would probably work out pretty good and is about the same style. 4" backspacing + a negative 11mm (1/2") offset should push your tires out about 1" over what they are now.

Still going to be cheaper to get some spacers though. Bolt on spacers work exactly like if you were to get a wheel with less backspacing. (wheel adapters is the legal term for them since spacers (non bolt on) aren't allowed)

heard that spacers where not good to put on trucks that are going to be used on trails? But i know nothing about them so that could just be a myth...

There's a lot of mis- and 3rd party passed around information concerning wheel spacers.

Well, first, a lot of that has to do with coil over spacers not being good for a lift. Not the same thing by any means, but usually people dont differentiate between the two when talking about it, so later when someone else searches for "spacer" and gets info for the one they aren't looking for (but doesn't know any better)

Second, a non-bolt on wheel spacer isn't good in any instance, on road or off road. I suppose if you actually went to the trouble of extending lug bolts, etc then it'd be fine, but most people dont, so their lug nuts dont get enough threads and end up falling off. Bad day...

A bolt on wheel spacer (wheel adapter) is on just as tight (or tighter) than your wheels (spidertrax recommends red locktite, plus torqued to 90 ft lbs). Most seem to be made with just as thick or thicker metal than your wheels are made of (but this is a place where quality can be an issue if you go cheap). As far as increasing pressure on the wheel bearing, I've yet to see any real proof that it would change it any more than a wheel with different backspacing.
