RCI vs CBI Sliders, help me decide between the two

Thank you and Cheftaco, I've a family and really appreciate your inputs

 

I can see the top plate being useful with the 5 degree sliders but have people found the plate useable with the 20 degree versions? Seems like they are fairly tight to the body making the plate useless. I haven't seen any in person though, I'm genuinely asking.

 

You guys make me appreciate my wife and kids. They never complain about getting in my truck. 3" lift on 33's no problems. My wife is only 5'2" and my kids are 3yrs old and 5yrs old. All of them enjoy climbing in. The sliders help even at 20° and no top plates. Honestly, it's never even been a topic that my wife has ever mentioned. I guess I need to give them more love.

 

Does she ever wear heels?

 

Not typically unfortunately. But if my lady was wearing heels on a regular I'd have two choices:

1. Embrace the fact that she always dressed up for me and start helping her in the truck like a gentlemen
2. Ditch her for because she's wearing heels to go wheeling/camping and way too high maintenance

I don't think the option of adding sliders to act as a pseudo step for a woman in heels would have crossed my mind. I'm not saying this to be rude. Obviously this is way more of a problem than I knew. And many people seem to come to a conclusion that I did not. So it's clear I'm not typical and I'm really just spewing thoughts cause I'm bored.

I do not have plates. It is not an issue for wife/kids, but it does make me nervous when the dog uses them as a step to get out of the truck. If he slipped and got a leg inside as he got out, it would be bad. Other than that, I am glad I do not have plates as they would be tougher to get paint on all the steel where they meet and would collect a lot of mud. Seems like a recipe for rust, especially in the midwest. I already have to paint mine every couple weeks even if I haven't used them as rocks kick up and beat chip up.

I dont think that theres any going on right now, they are heavily backed up on orders right now with peoples orders taking 8+ weeks to be sent out. I ordered my sliders on 04/24/2020 and today is 06/20/2020 and im still waiting for them to be shipped out. RCI Metalworks said that their heavily backed up on orders due to Covid-19 business restrictions and they got a flood of orders when they were running a promo during their spring sale.

Almost 3 years later my RCI Sliders were starting to rust on the edges of the plates. I do live in an area that uses salt in the winter. Took off my Sliders and had them Line-X coated similar to my black Diamondback SE Cover. They turned out realky nice.

 

I need to do the same. Looks awesome, did you do it or pay someone?

 

If you have zero plans to actually slide on rocks then save some cash and just get running boards.
I have go rhino dominator series and have been happy so far

 

I took them off and gave them to the Line-X to coat. They completely coated them to the frame mount. I thought that they would only do what is exposed but they did a complete job. Paid $300 plus tax CDN and would have cost more if they had to sand blast them. They would have done the 2 front brackets too but I only dropped off the main pair of sliders. The brackes did not look rusty so the fluid film undercoating should take care of them. I like the RCI plates but the gap is too close to the bar and will allow water/salt to cling in the gap instead of dripping off. I have a peace of mind now that they are Line-X coated. It takes less time to take them off than putting them back on. Especially if you do it solo like I did.
