Most houses have forced air heat so it wouldn't be terribly hard to add A/C...?

In Fairbanks a large majority of houses are heated with oil fired boilers and hot water radiators, there’s fewer central air systems as it’s far less efficient in cold weather.

Baseboard heat kicks ass! My grandma's house in New Jersey was supposedly built in 1947 and it has the original Thatcher oil boiler! My grandma told me for years that the house was built in 1957 or so, built Zillow says it was built in 1957; House has been paid off years...

Is a deed like a car title where it shows the year?

I would def do your upgrades prior to hitting Alaska, at least for bumpers. I PC's from AK but from what I remember shipping wasn't worth it. I think Green Tree Fab can get suspension that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. And they do build bumpers, might hit them up.

I ran duratracs in the winter which did pretty well. The issue isn't necessarily snow but the ice, most mornings the roads are pretty slick.

I used CB up there but since have upgraded to HAM back here in Colorado.

Hope this helps, I miss Alaska

It helps a ton! Thanks so much. We are very psyched for the move. I may just pull the trigger on the bumper and winch if the government gives everyone a stimulus. HAHAHHAHA. Jk, I think I’m gonna do it either way. Thanks again!

I just ordered mine, ARB single, and will be installing it next week! I can’t help with much info yet, but there are several very good posts on here that have just the info you’re looking for I believe.

Nice, I used to frequent McCoy stadium when I was younger and saw they are moving to Mass next year to become the Woohoo's or some shit. I still have family back there but haven't visited in a few years, brother lives in W.Warwick and an Aunt out there in Newport some-wheres. Good luck with the drive and lemme know if you need any info about Anc and the surrounding area.

I’m driving up from South Dakota to Alaska (Wasilla) starting next weekend. Helping a friend from AK drive a UHaul up to help his mom move. Going to stay for about a week but when we split ways with my homie the wife and I will be in Anchorage for a day or two waiting for our flight home. What’s worth doing in Anchorage? Ha

(P.S. if anyone is selling a DC first gen Tundra or maybe the right DCLB taco let me know and I’ll cancel our flight and drive back :D)

My main reason for coming up is just to help that close friend.

We’re going to Sail some and check out Denali all together. He’s got plenty of things to do while we’re all together ha.

But he has another big trip in planned that starts the day before we fly out. So he’s going to drop us off in Anchorage and we’ll get a hotel or whatever else might be cheap near as we can to the airport. Don’t want to just sit for a day and a half so was wondering if there’s any must-try things specifically in Anchorage (near the airport if possible). Seems like a city is the last place I’d want to be while in AK, but alas, we will be stranded for a bit.

20% tint on all windows, Deckplate mod, satoshi-ish grille, blacked out and/or body matched emblems, rattle canned rims, red l.e.d. interior lights, bilstein 5100's and OME 881 coils , deaver 8 leaf pack, 1.5" lift shackle, alpine sound system, 55w HID lightforce 140 and 170 fogs

Pretty much the whole city is reasonably close to the airport. There’s a wide range of cool hikes to do, anything from 1-2 hours, to a full day. Great views and a decent chance to see some wildlife.

If you won’t be up here for a few weeks yet, you could do some fishing down at ship creek for silver salmon. The bait shack can get you all set up with gear for the day and it’s not something you’d be able to do in many other cities.

49th state brewing has good food/drinks and they’ve got a nice roof deck with views of the water and city.
