I wired mine with a ADD a Circuit to the P1 fuse down in the footwell. It’s mounted to a Hondo garage mount and I drilled a hole through the back of the dash and ran it through a grommet because I use it on my bike as well.

I don’t have one of these yet but when I do I plan to hook it up to the factory Qi switch so I can turn it on/off with the factory mat.

Think you would be willing to take some pics and a little guide of what you do? That is a great idea, but I’m not that great with electrical, but might be willing to give it a try if it doesn’t look to intense. I’m a big fan of that plug and play lifestyle if there is some sort of Y harness or something I could buy to play it safe

I had one hard wired in my Westy, but the Qi charge rate couldn't handle streaming music and having google maps running—so keep that in consideration if you use your phone for music and nav...nothing against Hondo, it's just a Qi spec thing.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/repurpose-qi-charging-switch.496661/

This thread shows which wire to tap. This is to tap the switch wire to the button. You would still need a power source (i.e. tap 12V socket) and a relay.

The other solution is to tap the power source to the factory mat then it would be cleaner without the need for a relay. I would need to see the wiring diagram first before pursuing this route.

So the 10W rating of the hondo charger is irrelevant because it is limited by the Qi spec on the phones?

Mine keeps my phone pretty well topped off (iPhone XS) while running wireless CarPlay, though on some days it starts getting warm in the case.

I looked it up, iPhones wirelessly charge at 7.5W max.

Correct, so even if the charger allowed for 15w charging the phone will only draw what the software allows. There was scuttle of apple updating iOS to allow 10w charging for some models but that has yet to happen.

I’m hoping to go the second route. I’d prefer no relays. My mount just shipped so I need to figure out how to do this soon

I looked at pictures of the factor Qi charger and it looks to me you can only tap the 5V source going into the charging pad.

How heavy does it gets between the phone, mount etc. I wonder the pressure we add to the dash using the DMM, im afraid those type of setup may sag the plastic latter on specially with the heat.
