Thanks guys. Yes, I’ve cut the bristles off, and drilled/punched out the rubber inset (hence the name Rubberset), and soaked the inside with WD-40, and tried the kitchen rubber grip, but still won’t budge. I don’t have a heat gun, but this might be the perfect opportunity to hit HF this week, rather than use the wife hair dryer.

 

Try the hair dryer. No harm, no foul to the hair dryer. I mean it’s not like you are using the turkey blaster to remove brake fluid from the master cylinder. Not that I have ever done that before.

 

I hope you bought a new one before you basted anything.

Full disclosure, I was divorced at the time and living on my own. I mean it wasn’t like I was going to baste a turkey anytime soon.

 

I GOT IT!! Soaked with WD-40 for the night, grabbed the two rubber lid openers we have, and twisted hard a few times! I know this isn’t HF related, just really happy!

 

I keep one in my garage for just this purpose

Lisle 63600 for oil filters, been using it for probably at least 15 years, always removed any all filters without issue. Hopefully they’re still made in the U.S.A

 

So you guys that are using this welder, are you running it on a dedicated 30amp circuit?

 

I'm not sure what the breaker is on that circuit, just whatever outlet was open in my garage. I didn't have anything else that would be putting much load on it though. I was using a 15ft extension cord without issue all day. If I did my math right, I welded 36 feet. I would take breaks for myself but not due to the welder.

 

I was so tempted the other day when I was in the store to buy heat shrink. It was almost an expensive day but I walked out with my $1.50 heat shrink and free light.

 

Damn, idk if I ever walk out of there without buying more than I planned.

 

Most 110v machines are fine on a 20 amp circuit but will most likely trip a standard 15 amp wall outlet circuit

 

I’ve always ran all my 110V welders on a dedicated 30A and my 220V on a dedicated 50A.

 

This is an argument that can go on for days.

240 volt MIG machines run safely on a 30 amp breaker as long as the correct wire is feeding the plug from the breaker.

The welder manufacturers confuse things by putting those 50 amp plugs on their machines. There is no wires bigger than 10 AWG in these welders.

Manufacturers assume that most shops will change the cord and plug, so they just go generic and put on a ridiculous 50 amp plug and cord.

 

Latest buys. Found gear wrench ratchet wrenches on eBay for around 4-8$ each so picked up a 8/10/12/14/15/17 for less than 25$. Harbor freight socket tray and wrench organizers

 

Anyone use the horizontal metal cutting bandsaw?

 

Does anyone have/tried out their line of hard cases called Apache? They seem like a fair priced alternative to Pelican cases but I was curious on the build quality, I understand it wont be upto pelican standard but if its anywhere near it I could save $100 plus per case.

 

Anyone have their hedge trimmer? I only need to trim a few small bushes. Reviews seem good, just figured I would ask.

 

There are hundreds perhaps thousands of posting and groups all discussing how too tune-up these Chinese saws. The basic HF looking saw has been produced for many years under more names that you can imagine that all look like coming from the same factory or what looks to be the same original castings . There have been a few differences here and there through the years depending on who's name appears on them. I spent major time researching and then shimming, grinding, adding washers, using straight edges, bending and twisting to finally get a saw that I could use, meaning actually cutting square and @ 90*.

The last time I used it was to cut the bottom off an old welding tank to make a bell, about 7-8" diameter. I must admit it was almost perfect, just not right out of the box. The thing is there is really nothing out there even at 4X the price that will do what these have the potential to do. Your experience may vary.
