Hey everyone. Looking at purchasing a 2020 Pro through Military Auto Source (mil/diplomatic vehicle sales service while living abroad).

The spec sheet that MAS sent me listed the radio as a 6-speaker 7" display "Entune Premium w/ AM/FM/CD..." with no mention of CarPlay or the JBL system. whereas the Toyota standard specs the Pro as being an 8" w/ 6 JBL speakers and specifically states CarPlay. The Toyota site also lists out crawl and MTS, but the MAS doesn't specifically list it. The Spec sheet also has a disclaimer that Toyota standard features may not be available on all models and are subject to change...etc.

I obviously emailed the sales rep and asked them to try and confirm that it includes all of these items.

As the spec sheet isn't from Toyota and is MAS' own spec sheet, I'm assuming (I know, I know) that this is just due to some random uninformed employee misinterpreting Toyota's spec sheet and checking the wrong boxes on their site.

I ran the VIN and it was built in Texas and is listed as a Pro model for export. But that's all it shows. I emailed Toyota and provided the VIN as well, so hopefully they can clarify.

Figured I'd ask around here as y'all definitely know more about these trucks and specs than I do. Anyone ever seen a 2020 Pro not come with the standard 2020 Pro features?

    Thanks!

(Screenshot is of the radio spec from MAS)

Well one thing is for sure, the MAS customer service team is on the ball. They reached out to the Toyota rep and they stated that it was probably just an error with the spec sheet, as they aren't always updated before their arrival at the port. Once it gets to the port, they will do an inspection and confirm the actual specs. They are going to hold it for me until the arrival inspection and then let me decide on the purchase.

    ::phew::

It's also the last 2020 Tacoma they are shipping here for the year due to the current global "situation" lol.

If it’s a 6MT it will not come equipped with a JBL or crawl control. Automatics will come standard with JBL. I’m in the market for a pro without sunroof, which also is an option but very rare, so far found 2. Gl

Thanks for the heads up, didn’t know that. It’s an AT though. Just have to wait for confirmation of everything once it arrives at the port, not a big deal. ...not a fan of waiting though lol

Stand corrected. Don't know why I thought that. Pro only available as DCSB, how the hell did I pervert that into no mt?????

Congrats!! My guess is that it will come with all the Standard features since it is still a US Spec vehicle just being delivered under the military sales system.

I had a similar experience purchasing my '96 BMW Z3 while stationed in Germany. All of the Z3s were built at the BMW plant in Greer, SC and then shipped internationally. Mine came as a US spec Z3 except that they added a Euro first aid kit which was required for any new vehicle sold in Germany. And, mine was the last '96 the sales agent had available - a guy and his wife came in as we were leaving the sales office after signing the order paperwork and putting down the deposit. They had been in before us, but decided to take a walk and talk before signing the order....they had to wait an extra 3 months for a '97. :D

I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures!!

Thanks man, yea I think you're right. I put a (refundable) deposit on it in order to hold it so its mine as soon as it arrives and they'll deliver it to me here so I don't have to drag the family 6-11hrs (should have been 6 last time we did it but it ended up being 11hrs due to rain, traffic, and construction) to the port lol.

Once it arrives I'll be sure to post up a pic. I did a brief search on known off-roading areas here and there's actually quite a few established areas. I drove by two Tacoma ORs on base the other day so there are definitely a few others here that might have some knowledge. The real fun will be when I get back to the states and load it down with a shit ton of steel targets, ammo, and my rifle before heading out into the desert.

    UPDATE

Well it is a properly spec'd 2020 Pro, which is great news. The bad news is that it comes with the DAI straight from the factory. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!??!!

It's a great looking truck... as long as you look past the friggin DAI. Sure, I can buy a roof rack to make it blend in or trade the truck in for one without it when I come back to the states, but it is insane that it came to the factory to be shipped to Europe with a DAI. Guess I'll have to find someone who will ship a Prinsu rack to an APO in order to help keep it from being so obscene.

Worst part is that there are no other Tacomas coming to Europe for the rest of the year and there aren't any 4-Runners to choose from as an alternative.

Congrats!! The DAI is a factory installed option - the dealer must have spec'd their allocation with it. I don't know how much time you have but it's so close to the end of the model year that you might want to wait and get a 2021 without the DAI. What color is it?

Yea it is pretty much a purchase this now or just get a beater for the next year or so, which I'd rather not do. It's the Midnight Black color, so it somewhat "blends" in. Once the rain and dirt hits it, it should just all blend together like a lazy camouflage lol.

Nice. I've always been a sucker for black vehicles. I brought home a black 1980 Saab 900 Turbo from my first tour in Germany and a black 1996 BMW Z3 on my last. I had to go Army Green on my 2020 Pro, though. Not sure why. ;):D:rofl::infantry:

Same here lol. Snagged myself a black 03 Tundra AC when I came back from my second deployment. So this is essentially going to serve as an updated old school tundra for me (seeing as how they are pretty similar). That Army Green Pro looks sexy. Super moto, but super sexy.

Welp, I guess I'll be hitting up Prinsu to see if they will ship a rack to an APO. :D

I bought my first Toyota - a '90 4Runner - while I was in school at Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk.

Enjoy your tour over there. I miss Europe but it's changed so much since I left in '97. And, now I'm about to retire from my second career in higher education. My Pro is my retirement gift, I guess.

Congrats on the upcoming retirement man and that's a solid retirement gift lol. This is the wife's gift to me for quitting every job and OCONUS contract I've had due to four PCS moves in just under six years.

21 houses in 26 years of active duty. I was at 25 years and looking at another PCS overseas...Lynn said "Feel free to go, I'll be here when you get back." Dropped my retirement paperwork that week. :D

Second career has been amazing - still miss the Army every day but this was an amazing second chance. 16 years in higher ed, the last 8 as president of the College. What a wild last semester this has been.

    That's absolutely awesome man.
I decided to quit trying to work in a contract each time we move and give the GS sector a shot. The OCONUS cash is useless if I only get to see my family three months out of the year. I'll go work on base, live that GS life, and be home every night.
