That’s hard to listen to. It happens quick, almost took my thumb off on a table saw. I was out of commission for 8 weeks, I’ve got 50% feeling back. It’s hard not to beat yourself up over it.

I did my thumb this Christmas on the table saw. As soon as I felt it, I knew I had screwed up. It was a stupid thing I did
It's visibly healed, probably will never feel the same again. Still hurts when I bump it

Unfortunately, we are human and do stupid things sometimes, so it'll probably happen again :(

Currently stock as it was just purchased but there will be modifications to come!

Crap thats scary! its way to easy to get complacent and crap will catch up to you... I sadly make this mistake with my bandsaw all the time. Its small and quiet and when I'm wearing my ear pritection I can't hear it at all and forget its running. Ive been working to break that and I need to big time.

Assembled all my "lattice" frames last night , the larger ones were a bit of a circus to glue up and assemble by myself but it all seems to have worked out

Should be able to mount them today

    Looks awesome!

Is there a reason you decided to use short pieces of copper pipe instead of running long pieces through the middle wood portions?

thought about long pieces but decided to go with short pieces in shouldered holes so that they would help support the lath from sagging over time , ie just to keep everything straight and lath parallel to each other

Interesting, I suppose that makes sense. Not questioning your methods, more of a learning opportunity for me.

I’d have done the long pipe method just to keep from having crooked pieces. I both hate and love looking at your work! lol

Wow what a great idea. I never even thought about doing it like that especially for that reason. I’ll mark this down as my learning point for the day. Thanks.

Unless you want to drop several hundred, you really can’t beat an older hand plane! Couple nice finds!

Yeah been keeping my eye out for (what I think are) good deals. From what I saw the made in england ones aren't as desired for some reason, but for a US made one in that nice of shape was significantly more money.

The kidney beans are less desirable as well. That doesn't make them a bad plane though.

Here's some reading on the subject. The planes made before WWII (types 1-16) are the most desirable from a collectors stand point. They were said to be better. The Defiance and Handyman series came later.

Bought the new Delta 36-725T2 over the weekend and installed my Kobalt router table on the end. I'm pretty happy with the results. Now I just need to put it to use.
