Easier is subjective. It’s no easier to pick up an electric impact than it is to pick up an air impact at my house.

I’ll give you the convenience factor of being more mobile though.

 

yup you can bring it wherever you go and there are no wires. Also dont have to buy an airtank big enough to run air tools which takes up space as well. Id just rather buy a nice electric impact and be done with it, thats my opnion though.

 

I've only ever really used power tools at home. I love cordless stuff too, but I've never had a corded drill fail on me, but probably gone thru 3 battery powered drills and probably won't look to buy one again.

Whenever I've been wheeling and needed tools, my trusty bag of tools has gotten me by in almost all situations - all hand tools.

I see massive benefits to carrying a compact rechargable impact gun if taking lugs on and off is a normal thing for you, especially people with a trailer and trailer jacks or things like that.

Ive got an Earthquake XT from HF a while back and man it was the best money ive spent on a tool. Ive used that thing more times than i can count. Ive taken off axel nuts torqued to 180ftlb. If your looking for a great impact for $$$ i would reccomend 10/10

WARM AFTERNOON: Temperatures have reached the low 80s across parts of North/Central Alabama this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. The average high for Birmingham on April 28 is 77. Clouds will increase tonight ahead of a storm system to the west of Alabama; a line of severe storms with a high probability of damaging winds will develop in coming hours over East Oklahoma and Northeast Texas.



ACTIVE DAY TOMORROW: SPC has big chunk of Alabama in a “slight risk” (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms tomorrow.



The line of storms to the west is expected to weaken considerably after midnight, and a band of showers with gusty winds will push into West Alabama early tomorrow morning, sometime between 5:00 and 6:00 most likely. Odds of severe weather during the morning hours are low.

But, by afternoon the air becomes unstable, and as a cold front pushes into the state a new band of showers and thunderstorms will develop, roughly along I-59. These storms will move eastward, and will be capable of producing strong, gusty winds and some small hail. An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out, but isn’t likely. Rain amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch are likely, and for now major flooding issues are not expected.

The main window for strong to severe storms will come from roughly 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. While this certainly doesn’t look like a major severe weather event, you always have to be very weather aware in late April. Be sure you have a way of hearing severe weather warnings in the event they are needed.

THURSDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND: The sky becomes partly to mostly sunny Thursday, although clouds could linger over Northeast Alabama much of the day. Thursday will be cooler with a high between 68 and 72 degrees. Then, on Friday after a low in the 40s we rise into the mid 70s with sunshine in full supply. It will be a delightful spring day.

We project this weekend to be the warmest so far this year in Alabama. The sky will remain mostly sunny both days; we are forecasting a high in the low 80s Saturday, and mid 80s Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: New global model guidance shows a surface front moving into the state Monday with some risk of showers, followed by another chance of showers Tuesday night or Wednesday. For now both events look like they will bring only light precipitation amounts to the state. Cooler, drier air rolls in Thursday and Friday.

ON THIS DATE IN 2014: A total of 28 tornadoes touched down across North/Central Alabama, including EF-2 twisters that moved through parts of Adamsville and Graysville, and at Bessemer. An EF-1 touched down north of Birmingham at Kimberly. Two people were killed by an EF-3 tornado that night at a mobile home community in Limestone County. Another EF-3 in Russell County in East Alabama was responsible for 13 injuries.

ON THIS DATE IN 2002: During the evening hours, a violent F4 tornado carved a 64-mile path across southeast Maryland. The La Plata, Maryland tornado was part of a larger severe weather outbreak that began in the mid-Mississippi Valley early on that day and spread across portions of the Ohio Valley and the Mid-Atlantic States. In Maryland, three deaths and 122 injuries were a direct result of the storm. Property damage exceeded $100 million.

There was no price on that link. I paid $140 for mine with battery on an open box sale which it was basically brand new. Id rather pay more for the mobility and not having to deal with airlines and leaks and not being able to take it whever i want to. Thats just my opnion though. I have a 1/2inch inpact and a 3/8th inch impact.

I've got the entire set of Ryobi 40v - lawnmower (does .94acre on 1 battery), trimmer, weed eater, blower, edger and chainsaw. Chainsaw comes with me offroad now, ha!

Never thought I'd have electric lawn equipment but I've not had any issues.

Also have most of the ryobi 18v set...circular saw, impact, drill, multi-tool, jigsaw, sander, Brad nailer(awesome!) and inflator (soon as it comes in, just bought)

Sure there's better brands....but once I got started with 1 figured best to stick with 1 battery.

 

I'm a tinkerer at heart, so I like messing with air filters, chokes and carbs. Something go wrong on a gas-powered motor, you can always fix it with a replacement part. Not so much with the battery-powered tools, something goes wrong, you just chunk it in the trash. Plus, as odd as it sounds, I love the sound of a well-tuned motor doing some work!

 

I've cut my grass as 11pm and neighbors had no idea.

When we finally get some land - looking at 40acres in Chelsea, AL - things will change for sure!

I’m a bit of a brand snob on battery powered tools. Dewalt is what I have for their 20v line and 60v lines. I’ve had dewalt impact and drills for years and since they’ve been dropped from above my head onto concrete several times and still kicking that’s just the proprietary battery I decided to invest in.

If I was going small I would go Milwaukee 12v for sure.

 

I guess I'm still old school with all of my corded power tools and orange extension cord! lol

 

Well I’m manlier than all of you.

I use hand saws, screwdrivers, breaker bars, axes, hammers, chisels, and a reel mower. My vehicles are pedal powered, call me Scotty Flintstone.

No batteries or gas.
