    Still thinking about it.

Good stuff, man. I don't recall the details like you do... I had blue Z-wheels, better bars and top clamp and a three-piece crank as the main upgrades. And some gnarly plastic pedals.

I'll try to follow this thread. I just picked up a 84 DB Pacer 500 Friday. It's still in my truck. Decals aren't original so I'm going to remove them and probably swap a few parts. The front brake is also coming off since I never liked front brakes on race bikes.

I’m trying to remember who made those bars with the crossbar inline with the grips, but that was only one company back in the day and it stood out. Was it Haro? Needs a 2-piece chainring for the old-school race style.

I’m just going to ride with my kids really. What I was talking about kids not riding like I used to I meant leave in the morning and come home at dark and jump everything along the way.

I did have a Skyway TA with the Skyway Tuff wheels back in 85, fun times rounding up wood to build half pipes and 1/4 pipes. Back when RL Osborne and those guys used to tour.

“Rounding up wood for half pipes” LOL I know exactly what you mean. Times have certainly changed for what kids can (not) get away with now.

I used to ride with the guy whose dad owned Skyway. Their garage had a machine shop and all
the tools which was an awesome resource. The Tuff Wheels were made on the north end of Redding CA back then, not sure about now.

Their frames had that teardrop tubing which was awesome.

good times, spend most of the day outdoors riding bikes and hanging with your buddies. Parents had no idea what everyone was up to.
The Skyway frame and the Pk ripper frame were my favorites back then, that tubing seemed really advanced compared to regular frames

The Skyway frame had good geometry too. Similar to Patterson which was not as popular.

I googled it, yeah like CW. What are the bars on that bike you posted?

The CW Z-frame was epic when it came out.

They're DB bars. Just not very common.

    Still thinking about it.

Nah, I was in Colorado back then. Adams county and Weld County to be more specific.

I bought this a couple years ago on a whim. Skyway 24" frame, forks and bars with graphite tuffs. 50 year anniversary edition. Still made in Redding CA. Changed the seat out to something more comfy. Even though I have a Mtn bike and this is a 24", this thing feels like a 20". The steering head angle is soo steep I almost threw myself over the bars! I grew up close to the Patterson Bros and still keep in touch with them. Their dad posts all kinds of old school photos on FB. Oh yeah, one other thing about the Skyway vs Mtn bike, I forgot what a bitch a single gear bike is compared to a mtn bike. Going down hill is all fun, coming back up, not so much!

Looks like Redline Flight cranks. And guessing those are legit Tuffs. I bet that is fun to hit jumps with. Back in the day I didn’t understand the white painted Skyways but now I think it looks better than chrome. It looks like that is the teardrop tubing too. My next bike was going to be an Ibis cyclocross for cummuting but now I’d rather get a 24” cruiser for finding neighborhood hits. The Patterson Racing frame had good geo back in the day and their chrome finish was Snap-On quality.

One thing I am noticing is none of these pics have pads on the frame/bars. Do you guys still run pads?

I had a Profile Champ....sugino gt 3 pc cranks, ukai rims suzie hubs on comp 3 tires, GT bars with Oakley b1b grips with checkered thick donuts, DK stem and a dirt skirt, uni seat, Mx 1000 rear brake. The bike was stolen however, I found the punk......and got my bike back. The downside was it was striped of all the parts so all I ended up with was my frame.......pic to follow.
