Thanks! I get it. I have them set fairly high (had a shop do the swap as they were off the truck and those dinky spring compressors just didn't look like a possibilty). Thinking that it maybe easier to reduce lift instead of trying to crank it up if I had to. We'll see if that theory works;) I've gone with the EL096R HD leafs in the back (also to be installed). So 2 inches there with the weight I'll be carrying. Level with a little rake is the goal to account for any settling in the leafs.

How much more extended travel are you getting on the ADS compared to stock? I'm on the fence between the 8112s as well.

Ext travel is only like 1/2”-2/3” more shock rod, but that equates to more in tire droop. They are great just make sure you get the right coil. I’m over a year in and realize I should have gone with the 14” 650lb coil instead of the 700lb coil

The 8112’s are an impressive shock for the tech involved. Everyone likes them

Thank you for information, much appreciated. I'm now contemplating exactly that 650lbs or 700lbs the 8112s seem to complement more my style of Off-Roading. I almost can't go wrong at this point between the two.

I'm just here for the pics. And I see your IG account and will add. I want these 8112s badly... I just have to find a way to justify them with myself!

All seriousness though, now might be a good time to get a good deal on these ? I was able to haggle a bit when I purchased last year. IIRC I paid 3k for front and rears to my door. Don’t be afraid to ask for a better price. Good luck

Just upgraded to wheelers super bumps for the front, anyone done this? I can’t figure out if I need the spacer for the bumpstop or not with these shocks. Anyone have a compressed measurement of the shock etc?

you'll be ok with stock bump stops. i asked the same question a while back, but i did upgrade to the superbumps as well mainly due to trying to fit 35s with them

yeah i have been running my 8112’s for over a year on the stock bumps but decided to upgrade. Did you use a spacer? It says over 2” lift ya do and I didn’t see that note until after I threw them on.

Sounds good! Thanks for the info, just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be bottoming out the shock. I have never hit my upper wheel wells like some people complain about with these bumps though on stock bumps at least so i will see.

Take a look at the Bilstein videos and the cut-a-away pics in all the sales literature, 3rd compression stage is basically a hydraulic bump stop already built in. No need to add one. Even the literature says you don't need to add one...

    https://www.bilstein.com/us/en/product/bilstein-b8-8112-zonecontrol-cr/

    • Compression (C): Provides superior bottom out control through a 2-stage, telescoping internal compression stop. This feature eliminates the need for an external hydraulic bump stop

    • Rebound (R): Secondary rebound stop will dissipate spring energy and stabilize the suspension directly following a large compression event. The internal rebound stop will also eliminate harsh top-out events and the need for an external limit strap
    https://www.bilsteincanada.com/blog...necontrol-cr-shocks-redefine-damping-control/
      • Costly secondary bump stops, and finicky limit straps are no longer needed

I've driven features with the Tacoma on the 8100's and I would barely spill my coffee,
in a Ram 1500 same spot, same speed I was badly bottomed out and curling my spine from the impact.

If your driving things where you think you would need to add hydraulic bump stops...
you should consider reinforcing the suspension system first as you are into Baja racing type of stuff.
The control arms and their mounting points are weaker than these shocks. But your $ into that first before new bumpstops IMHO.

Yeah I was just replacing my stock ones because they were rusty and looking beat up is all. These bumps were pretty cheap
