Back in the day I always removed the pads. I have a set of repop GT pads for pro I'm going to build up.

Thanks man. I never raced. I didn’t have anywhere around here close by. I always looked at my bmx action and bmx plus mags and saw all the races from the west coast featured. I wished I could have grown up out there so I could have raced..... I wanted that more than anything in the world back then. My bike was my life. Lol.

I grew up in San Antonio and my parents wouldn't take us to any tracks or anything but I did have a lot of fun riding around the neighborhood.

Yeah me too. In my mind I was a no.1 sanctioned racer LOL. Me and all my buds had built bikes because we cut grass and worked for any money we could earn for our parts. We built trails and mini tracks......those were the days! It would be like 8 of us riding around together, all the time, all day.

I rode the same GT wide bars. Checkered thick donuts, lol I forgot about donuts. Thicker just to keep the stance wide. I also ran MX 1000 brake and had a DK stem until I changed it for Potts mod one. Ran same Comp III tires and I switched btwn those b1b grips and AME Tri (a bunch of triangles, pretty low profile grips) with quarters in the end of course and hairspray for putting them on.

Lol....yes, totally remember the hairspray. That tip was gold when it was first given to me. If I didn’t do the thick donuts I would just double or triple up on the thin ones. Ame, mushrooms that were super soft with some wear.....lol it’s all coming back to me.....

Hah Mushroom ODI grips- with some wear they were really sticky. Totally forgot about that. The non ODI ones at thrifty’s/payless were vinyl and avoided.

I have some 2010 B1Bs I'm going to use. I have nickels in mine so the ends won't get blown out.

Yeah I guess it was nickels not quarters as I said in the end. Nobody used the metal end plug things, only nickels lol

Still got donuts on those grips :)

I have some white sleeves too but I don't know where they are. Probably in a plastic tote in the garage.

Anybody run those razor sharp beartrap pedals? I ended up favoring DX platform pedals w the 10 or so pins that stuck in your vans. Solid pedals but were nicer to your shins and better for pedal grinds. Not sure if those are still made but I have magnesium knock-offs of those platform pedals on one of my MTB now.

I’ve thought of building my Profile frame back up.....but, the prices for the stuff is insane. If I could still use it that’d be one thing. I’m 6’1” now so it would be too small.
