It depends. You can be a guitar player playing bass and sound ok, but to be a Bass player is a lot different.

If you are pretty good at guitar, you can pretty much automatically play some bass stuff.

Mapping the fretboard is the same. First 4 strings on a 4 string bass= first 4 on guitar.

Right hand technique is incredibly different.

I messaged my buddy about the Kramer Pacer.
I sold him my Pacer deluxe a year or so ago. He's got like 8 strat head Pacers.

Says he's been texting the guy so I hope he gets it.

Very interesting question, because while yes the two instruments are the same composition they belong to two different sections of the band. The bass is part of the percussion group, along with the drums, while the guitar is part of the rhythm section with vocals and leads. The bass and drums drive the temporal side of the music, the timing, while the rhythm section is orchestrated by the percussion section...so

While a guitarist who understands the notes among the frets could play the bass "technically", if he does not have precise timing, like metronome timing, he should go back to lead guitar. Also, like @danbow said above...the right hand of a good bassist will have all kind of style that would stymie a good lead guitarist.

    I've never played a bass.

But I did play a baritone sax...we crossed the line tween rhythm and percussion sections

    I'm high :rasta:

Dood, play high as well. It might not make your better, it might not make you worse. It WILL make you look at it from a different angle.

    Which is always a positive

I really want a new acoustic. I’d jam on it for sure while high. I’m looking right now on what to get

He declined. Said he turned down a 210. Maybe I’ll just give him full price. If it’s in as good as condition as it looks it’s probably a good deal. I’d essentially get a free case out of it

Negative. I’m leaning more towards that Ibanez. I think the Dean was one of those “kit” guitar packages. While I’m sure it’s a good guitar, I’d rather have something a bit better still.

I do like the Ibanez. Maybe 225 would get it done?

I think I'm gonna drop a 230 offer. If he still doesn't budge then we'll see. I'd really like to sell the Yamaha I have to pay for this first but that probably isn't going to happen unless I take it back to the pawn shop and take probably a $50+ loss on it.

Looking at the others at that price range I think that's a fair deal. And the condition is better than most.
