Yep! Told wife tonight that sand will not be to far behind. My two previous houses the builder did not sod the entire back yard. I laid 20 pallets for my yard in ATL and 25 pallets for my yard in Birmingham. Good times!!! The one pallet tonight was a breeze. Thanks for the video. I haven’t thought about using that type of broom. Lol!

I'm rebuilding my yard with sand now. Last year I got hit with grubs and armadillos, that fucked up my zoysia. :annoyed:

We have some armadillos. I hate those suckers. Killed three with a shovel. My issue has been the way the rain flows through the yard since the construction of two homes in cul de sac and the shade of the tree in the front. I put down some seed this week too in hopes of getting it a little thicker. The chase for the perfect yard is a fine science!

RADAR CHECK: Showers have moved into the state early this morning, but as expected they have weakened considerably over the past 12 hours. But, later today, a few strong, possibly severe thunderstorms could develop ahead of a cold front. SPC has defined a “slight risk” (level 2/5) for areas south of a line from Tuscaloosa to Cullman to Scottsboro, with a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) as far north as Hamilton and Killen.

The main threat with the heavier storms this afternoon will come from strong gusty winds, and window will be from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. With limited instability, weak lapse rates, and moderate wind fields, this is a low end threat. But, as always, you still need to be weather aware with any system that comes through here in late April.

Rain amounts will be in the 1/2 to 1 inch range for most of the state over the next 18 hours, and the high today will be in the 72-75 degree range for most places, a little below average for this time of the year.

TOMORROW THROUGH THE WEEKEND: The sky will be partly to mostly sunny tomorrow, although clouds could linger much of the day over the northeast corner of the state. The high will be in the 68-72 degree range. Then, look for sunny days and fair nights Friday through the weekend with a warming trend. The high Friday will be in the mid to upper 70s, followed by low 80s Saturday, and mid 80s Sunday. It will be the warmest weekend so far this year, and a nice preview of summer.

NEXT WEEK: A surface front will drift into the state early next week, and we will mention the chance of showers Monday and Tuesday. It doesn’t look like a big rain event, and severe storms are not expected. The weather stays warm with highs in the 80s…then cooler, drier air returns for the latter half of the week.

I've gotten some grass to start growing in the backyard just to try and reduce the dirt/mud areas. The dogs seem to only walk to those areas, of course, so trying to stop them getting so dirty every time it sprinkles.

@tweakit88 and anybody else that had mentioned going to Oak Mtn...

a few of us will be at Monte Sano Saturday to bike, sticking mainly to easier stuff at the top with some newer riders. All are welcome to come if you want to find somewhere to camp or whatever, or just make a day trip out of it. Great family biking stuff at the top and good views.

I don't know how far you're wanting to go just to ride, unless you find a camping option, but you're welcome to ride my old one at monte sano.

Right now it's just myself and Andrew for sure, maybe his brother. Wes and his dad are maybe's to join us.

@tweakit88 There are some camping spots on monte sano if I remember correctly. might be worth checking out Dito Landing in south HSV to camp/fish and then short drive to the mountain to ride.

yeah I just know he was leaning away from Oak Mtn because of the amount of people that'll most likely be out, it will probably be the same at monte sano.

I understand. I've hiked most of Monte Sano with my kids and it has plenty of space for everyone. With the State opening this weekend and it being in the mid 80's, there are going to be people everywhere!
