    If you've got a gap that you can see with your eyeballs i HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend getting the bore job done... had maxbore.com do mine (i paid extra for the machine work on the throttle shaft as well as the bore job) and it made a world of difference!

    They actually put the whole throttle body in a ultrasonic cleaning machine too.
    so it's really a bargain but it does take a few weeks to have it done depending on how busy he is

    Man I wish I would have found this post a while ago! Just went through all the same things you had happen. Sent the TB off to Maxbore today. Really looking forward to getting this things back!

    This is a really great discovery, i've ran into this issue every time I do a head gasket on one of these 2.7L Tacomas. Just issues with the idle. Ill be curious if this will fix my P0420 code as well. From now on ill just send the TB in and get it bored out whenever I do a head gasket. i think its going to fix some future headaches.

    It truly is. I first learned about MaxBore over in ih8mud prolly ten years ago when land cruiser guys were running into the exact same symptoms and also fixed with a rebuild from MaxBore.
    It's becoming a lost art, these little rebuild jobs that most would rather just throw away and buy new, and that's fine if you have a big supply of new, right?
    But for these things getting to 25 years old now, MaxBore and other rebuilder type repairs are gonna be more and more critical for us to know about.
    Good thing lots of folks share what they find and learn here on the TW:D

    I'm having JUST idle issues. My truck surges from 500-900 RPM. Cleaning it usually fixes the problem but if I were to take in my TB to Max Bore. Will this fix my idle issue indefinitely?
