My 2016 Tacoma’s body is clean, but the bed liner was pretty thrashed when I bought it. Does anybody have experience or opinions on spray in bed liners?

Use the truck an enjoy it, when you get that first nice gouge in the bed you can brag about how it was from a made up trophy swordfish flopping around and not worry about the bed rusting like everyone else.

There is a lot of prep work, but I started this at noon and finished by 11pm with several hours of time for drying/tacking between coats. The cosmetic improvement alone is worth the effort, IMO, and the added utility and durability is also nice.

I'm not OP, but I just finished a brush/roll on bedliner job on my 03 PreRunner using Herculiner and thought I would share because relevant. Prepwork is key, as is the case with most adhesive/paint/coating applications.

I started with a flapwheel on the surface rust spots, then scrubbing down the bed with dishsoap and water to strip off any oils/waxes/etc, then powerwasher spraying it to rinse every last molecule of dishsoap off. Once dry, I masked off the edges of where I wanted the liner coating to go and then scuffed all the surfaces adequately with scotchbrite fine. Some compressed air to blow off the loose dust and then a wipe down with acetone was the last step before applying the bedliner coating. First coat went on a bit thin, as directed, then about 5 hours to tack up firmly. Second coat went on about as thick as I could get it to go without pooling in low spots and running on vertical surfaces, as directed by product manufacturer. Let it dry/harden overnight before driving and so far I am happy. It looks really good, feels good and 3 days later it is finally what I would guess is completely cured. The humidity has been low to moderate and 50-70 were the highs during the day, parked outside in mostly sunny days. I have about a pint left in the gallon can, which I plan to use this weekend to recoat a couple areas that are thinner than the rest.

I also finished building a bike rack to fit with the toolbox and allow my tailgate to close, which was badly needed after 3 years of some janky roof rack jerry-rig setup in the bed. I made it so the rear cossbar is easily removable with T-pins to allow mostly full use of the bed without the need for tools.

Going up and over the rails with the bedliner coating about 1.5" helped hide some small dents and scratches, which was nice, and I think looks pretty good.
