    I took Porter for a walk in another neighborhood today and walked past one of my favorite houses; This brick rancher was built in 1986 according to Zillow, and I would buy it in a heartbeat if it ever went up for sale (and I could actually afford it)!

    It does not appear to be particularly big, but it is big enough that it has two central A/C units, and not just any units either...

    Slammed S-10 in the driveway of a house on the same street as the rancher I like; I have seen and photographed this truck F numerous shows over the years!

    My truck has always had full coverage insurance; It was a gift from my parents when I got my learner's permit, and my dad financed it through Citadel at just 0.9% APR; He paid it off early, but even after he transferred the title to me, I kept full coverage. I have USAA for my insurance.

    I generally disregard KBB's value, but KBB said a little under $7,500 the last time I checked, and Carfax said it was worth like $9,600 the last time I checked. I believe that right now, in its current condition (better than average to good, with almost 112K on the clock), my truck is worth somewhere in the range of $8,500-$9,000.

    I have flirted with the idea of dropping full coverage every time it's time to renew my policy, but I always end up being too paranoid to go through with it; In October 2015, I was hit by a drunk driver and it caused about $2,200 in damage to truck. Sir Drinks-A-Lot lied to his insurance company and told them I ran a stop sign; Despite the fact that he was a repeat offender who'd previous killed somebody while driving drunk about thirty years prior, and got charged with DUI this time around, his good-for-nothing insurance company believed his story and refused to pay for damages to my truck.

    Luckily, USAA went to bat for me; They waived the deductible, didn't raise my rates, and ate the cost of fixing my truck. It goes without saying that I definitely want to keep uninsured/underinsured motorist protection because of that drunk asshole; I do not need the coverage that pays to fix my truck in the event I have an accident that's my fault. The coverage that repairs my truck in the event of something like a deer strike, flooding, or a tree falling on it (comprehensive) is separate from collision and I want to keep that.

    I'm thinking that it will no longer be worth it to keep full coverage on my truck once the fair market value drops below $5K; My truck has been full paid off for about seven years and by state law only liability coverage is required. What does everybody else think?

    Did that accident change the status of the title to rebuilt or is it technically still a clean title?
    If it is now showing a rebuilt title, it may not be worth continuing to carry the full coverage. I'm not sure exactly how a rebuilt title would pay out with full coverage and an accident.

    Clean title; Truck was worth probably $12K-$14K at the time of the accident and damage amounted to like $2,200; Truck was NOT totaled and I have a clean unbranded title.

    @Jllahman

    This picture was taken the morning after the accident occurred; Relatively minor damage considering that the 2002 Mercedes E320 that hit me had a bent frame from the impact...

    Dude. You told us half your life story just to ask if there are any rules of thumb for when full coverage is no longer worth it.

    I keep full coverage cause it’s really not much more for me.

    If the vehicle isn't worth much and you don't need the insurance money to replace it if you smash it, then you may as well skip comprehensive imo.

    Would you ever drop full coverage on your vehicle the value dropped below a certain amount? I know people who have fairly valuable vehicles that are paid for in full and they only have liability on them because they believe it's cheaper to pay out of pocket if they have an accident that's their fault; At the same time, I know people with vehicles that are only worth a few grand (also paid for) who keep full coverage on them because they wouldn't be able to afford another vehicle without the insurance payout...

    The one part of the policy I'd like to keep is the deer coverage; If I hit a deer, it's considered an act of god and my rates won't go up. I have almost hit deer on numerous occasions...

    Also, I believe the swimming instructor was in his late 20s, but he may have just looked young; I seem to remember that his name was Adam...? He was blonde, very muscular, and a smoker; It's possible he was well in his 30s or even close to 40 years old, and he may have been a Desert Storm veteran. Either way, he was very nice and a damn good swimming instructor.

    In addition to the aforementioned 1980s Chevy Astro van with broken A/C, he also showed up in a mid-eighties Chevrolet Sprint from time to time, which like the Astro had broken A/C; The Sprint looked like one below, but it was a gray/silver color...

    Right now? Like $1,400 a year...? I have one accident on my record from 2018 where I was at fault, which should age out about a year from now...

    2015 was an unlucky year for me in terms of accidents that were NOT my fault, as I had two of them; Rear-ended by a texting driver in March 2015 and side-swiped by a drunk driver in October 2015.

    @shakerhood

    One of the educational assistants at my high school, a rather attractive middle-aged blonde woman appropriately named Mrs. Carr, had a 1987 Buick Grand National!
