Man, sounds like you should keep the full coverage with these accidents haha

$1400 seems very high. I pay half that in KY for full coverage and its a no fault state which raises the prices a little.

Young folks get reamed on insurance, I do not miss those days. Get some quotes on what dropping full coverage would save. If you do drop it, put the difference in a savings account.

Taco is my 11th vehicle... The second vehicle that I didn't get collision and comprehensive on. After 8.5 years of paying collision/comprehensive (I am only 25 years old), I never once used it. My last truck was a Silverado and some guy backed into it and hit the same area you got hit, didn't have collision and comprehensive on it, guy's insurance paid for everything (whooping $2k which I repaired myself and kept $1.5k).
I do keep uninsured motorist because it also covers hit and run with the insurance I go thru.

Since I am young, I pay a shit ton for insurance even without tickets or accidents compared to more seasoned drivers. I can just pay for the repairs if I was being stupid.
Bank didn't care if I had comprehensive/collision for my Taco as long as I got uninsured motorists, but I also put $15k down on my truck. They did say if I get in a wreck that is my fault I would still have to keep paying on the loan. I didn't care though since I could technically pay off the truck anytime, I would just rather invest the money elsewhere.

If you could afford repairs and budget right, I say take them off if you are allowed to (if you have a lender).

And I can afford the cost of the insurance, I'm just looking to save money so I can save up for a house; My plan is to keep driving the Tacoma until is no longer economically feasible to do so, because it's paid for and is supremely reliable. The two accidents in 2015 had no affect on my insurance whatsoever, as the woman who rear-ended me in March admitted fault and I didn't have to get my company involved; The only reason I was forced to involve my insurance company in October 2015 was because the scumbag who hit me lied and his insurance company believed him despite his past record and the fact that he got a DUI after hitting my truck.

    Charlie the answer is, no.
Not only does the policy cover both vehicles involved, but also medical claims associated with the accident.
Cover yourself too, not just the other guy.

The only real reason I keep full coverage on my Tacoma is out of paranoia; I'm convinced that as soon as I drop it, an uninsured asshole in a large SUV will plow into the back of my truck; Even if I don't get hurt, I could not afford to buy a comparable truck right now without the insurance payout...

I have a vehicle that’s only worth a few grand that I still carry full coverage on. It only costs me like $20/mo more so it hasn’t made sense to me to drop it yet.

All you need to know is that insurance companies are in business to make money and not to help you but to prey on your fear of the what-ifs.

That's the way I've always seen it, and again, I mainly keep full coverage on a 10-year old truck with almost 112K miles because I'm paranoid from the drunk driving incident.

Then it is worth keeping the full coverage, I'd say. If you lost your truck tomorrow, you need the means to replace it. Either through insurance, or cash money.

The biggest think here is that I'd be screwed in terms of transportation if my truck got totaled and I didn't get an insurance payout; Buying a replacement vehicle would decimate my savings unless I financed, and I really don't want to finance used 2nd Gen Tacoma.

And the truck also has a ton of sentimental value because it's my first vehicle and my parents bought it for me when I got my learner's permit; My neighbor and I also installed a custom stereo system that we built from the ground up. My insurance policy also includes up to five grand for aftermarket parts, so if my truck drowned in a flash flood the stereo would be covered!

My buddy @Taco critter has one of the most beautifully done 1st Gens I've ever seen, and he doesn't have full coverage; I think he's crazy, but at the same time he also does a lot of work himself so he could probably fix just about anything...

The only 3rd Gen I've ever driven, and also the only 2WD 3rd Gen I've ever personally seen; This is my uncle's 2017 AC TRD Sport, which he bought used last year. He lives in South Carolina so he doesn't need 4WD; He paid cash for the truck and it's got less than 20K miles on it!

Dont just go by KBB, look up similar trucks for sale in KBB to appraise it. I am going through this now with my 09DCLB Sport. It was worth me paying for full coverage, otherwise it would be just junk and I would be replacing it all on my own dime
