Like the old Lincolns that had the tires mounted on top of the rear bumper.

Looks like it has a nice wide area to stand on. Are you going to use the Durabak on it?

No, I’m going to paint the bumper satin black and the top with just some rattle can bedliner.

I wonder if it would be possible to eliminate the tailgate and build a swingout instead....

@OP I'm supposed to ask you about beadlocks and if they're a good idea or not.

Horrible idea. A better idea would be two separate items, one a bumper and one a swingout that mounts where the tailgate mounts.
For me, I’d love them. For anyojenwho daily drives the truck or doesn’t drop very low pressure or wheel very hard Then I’d say more hassle and cost than they’re worth.

Oh I thought you were being a smart ass because in the past you’ve talked about a bumper with a swingout that gets rid of the tailgate.

Oh, maybe, I like a tailgate though. And I would need a softopper because I think a tire on a swingout on an open bed looks silly imo

What exactly counts as wheeling hard?

On a bobbed bed? I doubt anything would look silly

That’s not for me to decide, it’s all subjective. If someone questions whether or not they need beadlocks, they probably don’t. Kinda like if someone asks if they should get 35s
