AVS Bug deflector #2. Just unboxed it and it looks good. Anyone have one and does it rub the hood. Going to install tomorrow. holes look like they match up. Hardware looks all there. IMG_20200428_165139742.jpg

I have a Weather Tech....mine came with clear plastic small dots that were applied to the ends of the deflector to keep it from rubbing hood at higher speeds. They work perfectly. If yours did not come with them almost any hardware store should have as they are the same ones used on kitchen cabinet doors, or back of wall hung picture frames.....

I just took that one off my 2013. There were no rub marks on the hood. It was really dirty down where you couldn't get to to clean.

The 4 bumpers were on some kind of wax paper. Just peeled the bumpers off the paper and placed the on the deflector near the ends, and a couple in the middle. When peeled off the paper they were sticky, so just stuck them on, been there since fall 2013.....

I have the same one on my truck. It does not touch the hood and the screws it comes with are all you need. I did not use the strips.

I didn't install mine, I just removed it, it was on there when I bought the Taco. It did not have anything except the screws, no little bumpers & no sign of any kind of tape.

    wanted to ask,
how do you even open the hood with it?

And why when I search 05 Tacoma on their site, do they show two different product options? What's the difference between them?

    I see they have:
    -24645 (high profile)
    -21803 (medium)
    -322034 (?)
    -22645 (?)

I have the same brand on my 3rd gen Tacoma. No rubbing, easy install, and low profile. I also have the AVS ventshade as well.

Hood is no problem to open for me. There is still room to reach the release latch.

You may need longer mounting screws depending on the fit. I got mine at ACE Hardware.

Mine rubs where the grill meets the protector when I close the hood.. Made a chip in the paint where it curves to go around the light. I almost threw it across the yard. lol Needless to say I took it off and maybe sand that corner of the protector. Really tight to open the hood. I don't know if it's worth the trouble.
