So the short story is my girlfriend is super mad that I got a truck. I didn't tell her. I was just going to drive it home and let her see me driving it up.

Guess I should've told her lol.

I mean she knew I was getting something just not when I guess so I don't see why she's so upset.

Girlfriend, not wife or fiancee? So whats the problem, lol, you got a great deal. Can you afford it? Then don't fret. I once had my ex try to pull that shit with a new MX bike I bought and she saw in the garage, tried lecturing me about wanting to be with a guy who didnt waste money on silly toys, silly girl.

Haha I am in the same boat. Fiancé though. I want a Tacoma now but she wants to wait until end of year. I’ve been trying to find a Calvary blue one because she loves that color and I feel like if I find one for a good price she will let me get it now.

Haha. She said it would've been worse if I drove up in the truck so I guess it's a good thing she accidentally found out. lol

lol....its definitely not far from the price for what i paid for my 2020 PRO. But like you said, tech doesn't matter to you. But its one of those things that once you get the feel for it or you get immersed to, you kinda question yourself” why didn't i get that”. Saving money is definitely number 1 priority especially during these times!.. i had a 2000 nissan frontier that had 233k miles.. they offered me $500 for a trade. Lol.. i kept it and sold it online and got $3k for it. Dealers low ball you on trade in from my experience.

i would still get a TRd PRO just cause resale is solid

Pulled the trigger on a Cement Off Road DCSB w/ Premium Package, LEDs, Advanced Tech, Predator Tube Steps, Power Tailgate, Blackout. Went through Costco Auto, they did dealer trade which will be here tomorrow, and traded in my old Mazda. They gave me KBB value for my Mazda3 (16,000) which pays off my current loan for it. Trade value was the biggest selling point for me as that Mazda was losing value quick so I was just looking to break even with the loan payoff.

    MSRP: $46,096
    Savings: $4,582
    Rebate: $1,750
Final Costco price: $39,763 before TTL (13.7% off MSRP with rebate)
    Final price after TTL: $42,049

I know I could have probably aimed for around 15% off MSRP but they valued my trade at a reasonable price which was a struggle with other dealers and the Costco Auto program is pretty nice. I'll most likely be doing financing through my credit union for 2.9% on 72 months. How'd I do?

Also, need help... any tips or things you guys recommend I add when I go through financing?

I say you did really good, 15% are the outliers, anything about 10% and you got a good deal (though I know everyone likes to compete on here, lol). Especially w/ a trade, I know guys are getting some sh*tty trade in numbers right now, cause just like new prices are going down used are tanking too.

Yeah I'm just happy to get into a loaded Tacoma, have a truck, and have something that holds it's resell value. My Mazda was dropping quick. So breaking even on my loan payoff was huge. Any tips when going through financing Tomorrow? I know they're going to try to sell me alot more...

Decline everything except GAP if you think its worth it depending on the price they offer shouldn't be more than $500 and your situation (rolling over negative equity, financing the full amount, etc.). As you know the finance guy is gonna push his financing on you because based on your credit score he'll get a percentage to work with and makes money if you agree to a higher percent or his bank. If your CU offered you 2.9% @72 (which is below prime right now, so great) then I would tell him he has to beat it. Do not buy the bullshit extra service care packages, they are garbage and pure profit for the dealer. The warranty I would wait for 2 reasons, one they have a base price and can then charge whatever they want so it may only cost them $1050 for that warranty but will offer it to you for $2.8k, contrary to what they tell you you have up and until the 3 yr / 36k is up to purchase one and can buy from any Toyota dealer, Troy at Factory Direct sells them close to dealer cost, so I'd also pass on that. Keep a close eye on the fees and don't buy an sealant or paint or scratch bullshit either, always cheaper and better to let an actual professional detailer do that or body shop, etc. Imho, the finance part is the worst part, just you and the dude trying everything to get something out of you.

When I was negotiating with the salesman on my truck, he and the finance manager called to answer some questions I had about the process since I was out of state. We had already agreed on price at this point. They asked if I was financing and I told them I could get 2.95% for 72 months at our credit union. I told them I didn’t mind financing with them if they could beat that rate for the same term. They came back with 2.79%.

Let them know you have a good rate already, if you’re okay with financing through them, and they may be able to get the rate a little lower to get you to finance with one of their lenders.

I passed on the extended warranty and prepaid maintenance stuff, as well as GAP coverage. We have GAP coverage through our insurance and it costs a lot less than what the dealer offers. Might not hurt to check that out to see if you can get better GAP coverage through your own insurance.

Agree,d but as far as GAP just read into your GAP w/insurance vs. finance institution, for instance TFS will pay off the entire loan. USAA's GAP is not the entire loan but a percentage, like 20% over whatever the current value is and like an extra $4-5 a month, I didnt finance buy paid for the TFS GAP and it was $400 I believe, less than $500 for sure, would have to look at my paperwork.

Pulled the trigger on a Cement, Off-Road Double Cab Long Bed over the weekend.
Came with Tech, Weather Mats, Predator Steps, Blackout Package + Tailgate.
Been wanting to join the gang for awhile and couldn't pass up the 0% getting offered right now. On top of that asked to see the invoice and they were selling it at invoice cost. That combined with them not trying to low-ball me (too badly) me on my trade in made me pull the trigger.

    $38,251 Before TTL
    $500 Rebate
    $42,212 OTD

That’s a good point. Insurance companies could have different GAP coverage. I’ll have to double check our policy, but I think it’s supposed to cover difference in the vehicle’s value and the loan balance, whatever that may me be. I discussed it with our agent when we first started doing the GAP insurance and it was basically the same thing the dealer was offering.

I get it more or less for the extra piece of mind, since we are usually around the break even point or below when we drive it off the lot. I’ll have to log in and read over the policy for the new truck just to make sure.

Going to look at a Midnight black 2020 Tacoma TRD offrd double cab with the manual transmission. Total MSRP is $37,268.00. The dealer told me that the out the door price for the vehicle would be $36,423 with the 0% financing. I'm new to Toyotas and not to familiar with the going rates for them. Wanted to know if I was getting shafted on the deal. Im located in Maryland.

    MSRP 37,268
    sale price 33,731
    fee 300
    tags 351
    tax 2041.86

    total 36,423.86

Almost the exact same I paid and close on the truck only mines a short bed with a manual, they also gave me full trade for my Taco so I was happy. A few deals on here that maybe was another thousand there some place, but with the special financing and the trade I think I did good.

What region are you in? Out here on the east coast and up in the north east you can get 1.9 for 72.
