My 2871r with the .64 A/R will cruise on the highway at -2 vacuum or just 0. If I start going up a grade, I'll see 1-3psi.
More often than not, with the roads over here, I'm cruising at 0 vacuum/boost.

Side note - Finally got my exhaust leak fixed! Decided to just get a new genuine Garrett turbine housing to make life easier. Also adjusted the preload on my wastegate a little better since the downpipe was off and I could ensure it was fully closed. So happy to be making boosty noises again!

This is good news! Got that gooch all cleaned up and weld glued back together holding steady eh?

How well did the Garrett housing fit?

He is. He might enjoy a tuning session, once he gets all of his turbo kit logistics lined out.

I don't know what level you have delved into your tune, but with the datalogging features, it is quite easy to refine it. Or send the datalog and file to someone whom knows how to tune it. Then they can send it back and you upload it.

Yeah, no more ripped taint lmao. The machine shop welded all 4 sides of the collector, and faced the manifold-to-turbo surface for me. Not bad for $50!

The Garrett housing fit perfect - I actually like how much better it's designed compared to my Ching-chong-Chinesium housing. Hopefully no flaking on this one. It's also their Ni-resist coating, which should help with heat (Even though I'll be using a turbo blankey). It also gave me a chance to inspect everything on the turbo itself, which was good. No issues, my shaft is nice and tight, no motion. Compressor housing had a very slight amount of scuffing on the surface where the compressor wheel resides, but no damage on any of the compressor wheel blades. Not bad for having 32k on a China turbo!

I was able to machine the mounting surface on the housing this morning. We will see how assembly goes this evening. Pretty much maxed out my little lathe with the weird shape of this. Almost hit the ways and bed as it rotated.

That must have been a little bit scary seeing that inlet flange flying around.

    I can easily understand that.

Any other good shops around your area?

Properly done! Must have been an intense moment or two, during first start of the lathe.

Now let's see what that boost threshold is like, come tonight!

A few of us are. I am. Easiest way is take a vacuum/boost source to the OEM FPR.

I have an aftermarket fuel rail.

Otherwise you can find aftermarket fittings for the outlet of the OEM fuel rail, and then run the hose into the new FPR, then back to the OEM hard line.

She's all back together! Damn that housing looks tiny!

Just went for a quick drive to the store, no lap top or such. Honestly feels pretty much the same. Wasn't standing on it, but I expected more.

I think I have too much timing pulled before 3k so its nullified. I'll play with it more in the upcoming days, it's time to relax.

Nice, might be just a more aggressive tune. You will still have to wait until your compressor comes into efficiency too. You should build boost earlier and easier, but your turbo will still follow the compressor curve. If you are on a piggyback like me, the ecu likes to hold the motor back a bit for a second down low.

Usually at highway speeds no grade sea level at 65 im at -5 to -10 inhg any throttle it goes to 3 or 4 psi on level ground any elevation im in the boost. My truck is pretty heavy so there is quite a bit of load on it.
