Really wish I could track one of these down... I know its not super old, but I was 10 and it was my first bike. Would love one for a garage hanger, there is a local guy who buys and sells vintage BMX bikes and has been for several years and he has never come across one.

    After:

Had one just like it in the metallic light blue brand new, 1986 Schwinn Predator Free Form EX that got stolen in 1990. I saved this one on Craigslist 2 years ago and restored it..was all original except grips and tires.

Still searching for a Hutch Wind Styler that I can do up like Woody Itson's Trick Star from the 80s.

I raced for several years in MA with my Mongoose Supergoose and still have some trophies in my attic.

Yup, if I punched the ends out before the grip surface was too worn I used to use 10 speed plugs just to buy some time.

Dude, post some pics. It's gotta be worth saving, if the finish really is gone just get it sandblasted and powdercoated. I'm sure it's got some value regardless..makes me puke to think what the parts on my Goose would cost now, the stem would be $250 and up

Yup, one of mine is a 2012 purple Quad.

Don't hang it by the wheel though you could egg shape the rim. I hang mine by handlebar crossbar.

I remember one mag ran a picture of Greg Hill's bike. He powered out of the gate so hard once that he legit bent the outside of the cage on an Urchin.

I just picked up a 1983 Redline 600A. Chrome and seems to have some original parts but some newer such as Odyssey rear brake and Gyro, Dyno stem with Potts bolt, etc..looks kinda rough but I got it free.

I've been collecting old school detanglers lately, I'm old enough to remember before the Potts mod existed!! Never really loved the Gyro, I have them on a couple of my bikes because the threadless headset can't run a Rotor. My 1996 Torker TFX (throwback to the 80s TTT) came with the SST Oryg stock, when I got it the lower plate was intact and nothing else so I just got another online because I HATE those damn flex plates you need for a Rotor if you don't have a modified stem.

Have a couple of original gen Rotors, the gen 2 on my 1986 General Fred Blood, a Pro Rotor on the way I have to source some ball bearings for, a Skyway Spinmaster, a CFD Cali FreeSpin I have to restore...love the simple approach.

I searched mine out and finally found the one that was stolen from me over 30 years ago. I was always a bike rider, skateboarder 80’s kid. I can honestly still remember what the skate shop smelled like. That bike looks awesome in green

I think I remember that. Maybe?:rasta: I do remember reading about him a lot. Those cages didn't last very long. Way too painful!

Thank you sir. They came in the metallic light blue (my first) and white that year. The before pic is black spray paint over light blue house paint..brush marks everywhere..and no decals. The green I found reminded me of the original Haro green so I went that route over pink.

I was a casual skater, had a Vision Gonzo and a CW Time Released Insanity

Hmmm, think I have one but if not I'll take one.

The Urchin brand were known for being the strongest..maybe not if you laid the bike down but a pro like Greg wasn't doing that. He just torqued so hard the side of his foot bent the whole outside cage.

Slime Balls and Sex Wax too

Enjoyed the pics. Was 180 your ABA plate number?

My old pics are all gone except for a couple I can find on the web. This is one of my old launch ramps, Blockhead ended up using for an ad in a 1985 issue of Thrasher. We originally built that as a launch ramp for bikes, and had it locked up to a phone pole at a grassy park. We'd bike downhill and hit that ramp at full bike speed and launch 25-30' length and pretty high, onto a crabgrass landing. That was the start of perfecting tabletops and other airs. It was 4.5' tall with 45 degree transition at the lip and we eventually realized it would be an epic skate launch ramp so we carted down with some other more skate-specific street ramps, more quarterpipe style, to what turned out to be the first skate contest in Redding CA in 1985. The guy hitting it in this pic skated for Blockhead, but that was the biggest launch style ramp we ever made. We left it in that parking lot downtown and it lasted a few months before becoming shredded from constant hits. The bldg. in the background was a theater and the downtown skate/bike shop, no other businesses ever complained that that ramp floated around the parking lot until it was finally flat from use there.

The rear wheel has a sprocket on both sides to change ratios. I totally get it but have never had a bike with that including the one like this from 30 years ago.

Gearing wasn’t important because most bikes were geared about the same, 44-46 / 16 and mtn bikes didn’t really exist to compare to, just 10 spd bikes which were uninteresting. I liked having a holeshot 2-spd when that came out mostly for long hill commuting.

I bet that bike will be bunny hopping various objects and riding wheelies within minutes of getting it working lol
