I'm tempted too. Threw down some clover seed this year and that's starting to take, we'll see how that goes. We don't have irrigation though. I only care about the front looking decent, i have a dog that likes to dig in the back :D

I'll be taking a look at this :)

I use Emerald Green. 3 years ago my yard was shit and nothing I did could bring it back. This is now the 3rd year I've used them and its looking great. I pre-pay for the year and get a % off. They don't do pay extra for crabgrass treatment or over seeding or stuff. Only extra charge is aeration in the fall. They are cheaper than when I was buying the chemicals myself.

I used them in the past. Not great results. They come regardless of weather and it would piss me off seeing them put down weed & feed as the heavens open up. I do my own now.

Any of you guys deal with stone counters? We installed granite tops a while ago and, over the years, some of the surface pores have started to open up and become a little rough at the vanes. Are there sealers (or I guess fillers rather) that can make the top nice and smooth again? We use the sealer product fairly regularly but doesn't do anything with the little voids at the rough spots. I called the company that installed them and they were quick to tell me there's nothing I can do but I have a hard time buying that.

Thanks, I reached out to them for an estimate... I honestly think I may need some new topsoil to get things back.

    Electrical knowledge needed here..

My office upstairs has a bulb (fluro) that went. Crappy flush mount fixture a few years old but I'm limited to what I can use due to low ceilings.

I drop in a LED bulb and no light..tried a second, nothing. An old style incandescent worked. I checked both LED bulbs and they're good (just got em 3 months ago). I installed another fluoro for the moment and after 15 minutes or so got a fast flicker.

Switch is a regular rocker style but a dimmer..about 15 yrs old.

Is my culprit more likely switch or fixture?

Sounds like the switch. You need to get one that will work with LED bulbs. Should be able to get them for around $20 if I remember correctly at any hardware store.

I agree. LEDs are picky about dimmers. I had to replace some of mine when I put LEDs in because they flickered like crazy. I used Leviton dimmers.

It's likely not an led compatible dimmer. Time for a run to the depot

Cool cool thank you everyone. I presume I don't need any additional wiring to do the swap?

Come to think of it the switch is at best 16 years old, that's how long I've been here and I don't believe I have replaced that one.

Sake of argument, let's say I don't care about the dimmer and I have a switch that's just a straight on/off I got about 5 years ago when I remodeled the kitchen..is it likely that that switch would work on the LED?

Wiring should be good. A straight on/off should work. I believe its only the dimmer switches that need to be compatible with LED.

The bulb itself has to be dimmable too, so double check that. Most are at this point, but it just occurred to me that it could be two problems.

I think there's going to be a hidden effect a few years from this. Think about it how many high schoolers are getting their drivers licenses? Is that essential? How many of them are buying used cars? Saving up a few thousand bucks for college or moving out from their parents? Etc etc. You're basically opening up a huge gap right now everyone who just graduated college last year will continue their career paths forward while everyone younger than that will be on hold for a year, so there's going to be a one year gap for everything.

I didn't know I had to do this until I saw this post. My yeti is filled with dried blood from a roadkill deer and it's been colder than I'd care to be washing it.

It was a last minute decision on my part, but I am happy I made it! It really makes crap like that easier for the 6 months of cold we get up here!
