    Brand new member here.

Seeking advice from what I feel are the experts on topic.

I've located a ultra clean 2014 TRD Sport V6. It's for sale at local dealership.. Vehicle drives tight with no mechanical issues that I could identify. I am taking to mechanic tomorrow for additional inspection.

Carfax demonstrates 2 owners, dealer maintained.

    Negotiated price currently @ 18.5k

    My giant/huge concern is milage : 160,594.

Buying this truck as my sons first vehicle.

Gentleman/ladies....all thoughts and opinions welcome on this amount of miles. The number is above my comfort zone, but it is a Toyo...so....

    Many thanks in advance

If the truck has been maintained and you have records then I personally would not have any issues buying a Toyota with that many miles. My first Tacoma purchase was with one that had 150,000 miles on it. I sold it with almost 300,000 miles and it still ran strong. My current truck bought last year had 140,000 on it and runs like it is new

    Welcome to TW and yes.
Sounds like a good deal. What state are you in?
There are others here who can be a better guide for you.
Dealer Maintained would suggest proper maintenance has been recorded.
    Enjoy!

Yup. Just bought my 2013 sport 4wd with 105k. Got records from owner. When you pull the car fax look for maint and damage if any. Call the dealer where it was maintained and ask what was done. Everyone seems to confirm the 300k plus long life. Good luck

I drive this exact model and I love it.

I paid much more than that for mine 2 years ago but it had 48k miles on it and it was in really great shape, one owner, records, etc..

I think like the above posters have mentioned- I wouldn’t worry about mileage at all if it’s been properly maintained.

    good luck!

Edit: what cab configuration is it?

Mileage, maintenance, mechanical........I wouldn't worry about it, my daughter totaled her first two vehicles before she got out of college. LOL

I'd say you'd likely be fine with a stock truck. I'd be more wary of one that has been customized.

My first vehicle was a olive green 72 chev step side. It was so heavily rusted the bed panels shook and the steps were gone. My dad made him pay him back the entire 400.00 he paid for it- even tho the trans failed within months.

Considering the pos kid i was, it was more truck than I deserved.

If I could put my kid in a 2021, I would. That's the kind of kid he is.

    Again everyone, thanks so much

I’d get it inspected @ a Toyota dealer that might help you negotiate a lower price

Check the frame for signs of rust.

I think $18k for a truck with 160kmi is crazy, buy your son a cheap used truck or put a down payment on a new one

Mileage wise it’s just reached legal drinking age. Check for frame rot and get the dealer down to 16k if you can.

OP, in my location that truck has a KBB price range of $15-20K. So if you can negotiate down a thousand or two that seems perfectly fair. If you post your zip I’ll see what the range is for your area.

Also worth considering that in order to put miles on a vehicle that fast, a majority of it was likely highway miles. Which means less wear and tear on the vehicle overall.

I got mine with similar mileage for $14,500 a few weeks ago. Also a 2 owner truck with records and as luck would have it one of the previous owners was someone I knew well.

And as a matter of fact there was - what may have been rust on the frame.

It was raining heavy yesterday and I couldn't get underneath - one of the reasons its going to mechanic today.

Why mention the rust - known issue ??
