    Go performance and get top plate reinforcement plates. You should be safe if you go that route.

    I'm willing to bet your non performance coilovers slow you down just like mine have over the years. Ruts and washboards made it slow going for me, was always cautious if things got crazy. Now that I have seen the light I am going so much faster... and it's easy to take it too fast and out run the capabilities when you are still trying to figure them out.

    I still think the hardest part of that is going to be getting the UCA pivot setup properly.

    And a couple updates on my own pile:

    Gave up on my old rear axle and swapped in a used housing. Ground and rewelded the perches. We'll see how long it lasts.


    Also, started to find broken spot welds on the bed. Riveting them back together for now.

    Those were a failure waiting to collapse completely. Probably on the next outing.

    A very nice solution. The best I've seen yet. Curious how you determined fit for the wrap piece. Does it wrap over and down the engine side from the top?

    I didn’t really take any measurements other than the inside width needing to be 5 1/8”, I just pulled the coilover, made a cardboard template and traced out the holes from the bottom side.     I am curious about your Kings. Which coil springs are on them? 600, 650 or 700 lbs coils? How long have you been running them?

    I’ve had the King’s for about 18 months now with 700lb coils. I’m sure the heavy coils along plenty of high speed dirt miles worked the buckets pretty good.

    You didn't say it but I just went back and looked at your first post again, this was the passenger side bucket that failed correct? Looks like it, based on the position of the schrader valve on the CO.

    I presume you have you taken a very close look at your driver side coil bucket and found no evidence of a similar failure.

    This is a pic of my passenger side coil bucket after my extended length King CO with 700 lbs coils pushed through it last fall.

    I am curious if you taken a close look at the LCA, where the shock tabs are welded to the LCA? A few of us have found cracks forming there. I believe the root cause is the same for both failures.

    Did you move on from your kings? There is another 0.25" of droop that could be gained by taking the last droop spacer out. The CV's, steering, BJ's/uniballs will need to be checked to make sure nothing binds at full droop.

    Thinking about it. The Kings are definitely shorter than ADSs by at least a 1/2" at full extension when not mounted. Plus, my LCAs will droop even further with the Whirelines. But I hear what you are saying, don't want to go to far and cause bind.

    I just installed some limit straps to help with this. Still learning how to adjust those to get the maximum out of the Kings without going too far and yanking on the coil bucket at full droop.

    I think those OG kings were very conservative on the ET lengths when they designed them in the late 90's early 00's.

    When you coming to CO again? I got time this summer to get this sorted for you and do some R&D for others with these OG kings.
