Hah, sorry. I was typing that up in the other thread when I saw your post that you redirected it here. I just copied and pasted from the other one and forgot to remove that.

I edited my post in this thread to remove the first 7 words that triggered @In4aride

Was posted last week. camping is discouraged, but not illegal. I was at rainbow falls a few weeks ago and have seen friends post on going out there. I've been wanting to go camping or a short backpacking trip, but am trying to hold off until the official shelter in place is over

Just came across this and wanted to share for the front strange people. I was looking to get into Yankee Hill area this weekend but according to this FS list, county roads are still closed. I thought that got lifted yesterday and only Boulder, Gilpen, Denver, and Douglas county extended until May 8th? Looks like there's a fire ban currently too.

Yes there is a fire ban on the entire forest and will remain in force until May 31st, 2020 or until rescinded, whichever event occurs first.
    https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd721651.pdf

The confusion is a byproduct of how our country is set up: township, city, county, state, federal are different entities and don't always coordinate or agree with each other. It looks that Clear Creek County still has their STANDING HEALTH ORDER in effect and if you violate it you are subject to a fine of up to five thousand ($5,000) dollars and imprisonment in the county jail for up to eighteen (18) months.
    https://www.clearcreekcounty.us/Doc...2/2020-02-Board-of-Health-Public-Health-Order
It started on April 11 and will remain in effect until further notice.

I just spoke with South Platte Ranger District and they said Rampart Range is still under a mud season closure. The current target date for opening up is May 8th, so check back soon.

Everything in SW Colorado is still closed. No plowing on the alpine passes this year and improved campsites/picnic areas are all closed. Dispersed camping is technically allowed, but I'm unaware of any that you can drive to.

It's a big hit for sure, but as one of the few counties without a single positive virus case they're willing to wait for melt. Silverton is still closed to visitors, can't rent a room or a campsite.

Hinsdale County has specifically posted that they are opening the passes as they do every year. Another group I'm in was started by one the guys who actually does the plowing and he's been at it for a few weeks already. He's based on the Silverton side. The passes will open but everything else is still weird.

I'm trying to break in some gears and throw it in 4wd a few times. Does anyone have suggestions of easy trails nearby denver? I'm trying to keep the trip within about 50 miles total to not overheat the gears in the first 500 miles. Thanks!

I figured I wouldn't bother them with yet another call if anyone already knew.

I hear Eagle Rock is passable. There is still snow/mud so winching may be required depending on your setup and the conditions

Not a trail, but a scenic drive.
    https://www.codot.gov/news/2020/may...ng-of-mount-evans-highway-until-at-least-july

…the opening of Mount Evans Highway (Colorado Highway 5) will be delayed, and the roadway will not be open by Memorial Day weekend as it usually is. At this time, the Colorado Department of Transportation, the U.S. Forest Service, and Denver Mountain Parks — the agencies that jointly manage Mount Evans — have reached an agreement that Mount Evans Highway will not open until at least early July due to delays related to COVID-19 and public health orders.
