I enjoy your optimism but real estate is going to get hammered. This is looking like a very lopsided W recovery

Most of the mortgage REITs have been hammered down 75% already, so I think plenty is priced in.

Time will tell but it seems like we haven’t even begun to see the effects this will have on business. Think of how much office and retail space will soon be vacant

Some see it as too risky (and sell their shares), others see it as opportunity (and buy as much as they can). We can look back in 5-10 years and see who was right.

I read a story of Chase who held a sale because of the volume being sold, the guy wanted to sell at a high but they held it up for a week and sold it after they "reviewed" it, basically cost the guy his entire capital gains and they said "oh well". Or something along those lines for why they held up the sale. OH. WELL. Which is one reason I avoided Chase when I started reading into which brokerage.

Funtown Splashtown in Saco, ME announced they're closed all summer yesterday. Think what this effects - all the kids who would work there, now imagine all the used cars they don't buy, the apartments they don't rent because they live with mum and dad for another year, they don't get a license yet, they decide to wait a year for college so they don't have to deal with the current situation, etc. I posted elsewhere maybe in the new england BS thread, but there's going to be a literal 1 year "gap" in everything.

    Love the graphic.

Also been to home depot - but had ordered online and did curbside pickup. I was in and out faster than the folks standing on line to go inside.

We're staying at our rural "weekend" cabin through this as our home is in a metro area with high incidence - local grocery store is FAR less crowded than any of the options back in the big city. I did go to Sams Club on Saturday - love that you can scan and checkout from their phone app and manage to avoid most of the people.

Went to HD, saw the line...said...nah....drove up the street half a mile to Lowe's and they weren't lining people up and counting at all, no line no wait, etc.

Yup I waited in the HD line last weekend, had to buy a lawnmower.

Also mentally spent another $1k on the Traeger grill they sell there.

My plan for my next grill setup: unknown on the propane, either a cheapy cheap from wally world, or find one on FB marketplace. Then...the smoker is where I focus my efforts. I'm thinking an electric with pellet or chips, and rig it up inside my shed like a smoke house and vent it to the outside. :D :D might not set it up inside, we'll see. But probably off of craigslist/FB marketplace. Though, I'm in New England where the weather will rust out most within a few years, so I need to look at how to preserve my stuff up here...or just move to Texas :D

    Mine's named Juan.

I refuse to give a single red cent to Traeger - they used to actively lie to their customers by claiming using non-Traeger branded pellets would void the warranty.

If you can swing the cash, check out ceramic grills / smokers. Highly recommend this store - AtlantaGrillCompany.com

Costco has better prices on Traeger's. You can save roughly $300 depending on the grill.

I use their pellets, but buy them at Costco where they're much cheaper.
