Yeah I'd probably use tube on both ends. That doesn't look ready for any kind of shake down run to me personally.

I have their full set too, not installed anymore since I got an AP bumper and have to run the AP skids. Those trans skids are heavy AF.

 

Yep.. after much looking at the other 'off-the-shelf' options out there I done went and ordered this same set up for me moneypit.
Figure the sizable chunk of coin now should save multiples of that later, but oooh, it still stings a bit!

 

I still think they can be made reliable. My setup has not been but it's been completely diy and idk what the hell I'm actually doing haha. I don't see any reason why lce kit would be any less reliable than a SC.


Glad I'm not the only one thinking modern turbos are better than SC's. Crawling puts a very high load on the engine so you will build boost sooner than just street driving. You will see more boost at lower rpm via a turbo than a blower. Less power robbed at idle do to crank losses as well.

Why isn't the strap flush to the bedside in the one photo? Looks like the bolts pulling out.




I think if you have weight on your bed rails and do a fair bit of offroading the rear gussets will save the bed from cracking between the tailgate. I just made some this past weekend and wish I would have done it awhile ago. Always thought it was more a composite bed thing...

I used angle on mine instead of plate like you did and its holding up fine after a few hundred miles and a few launches. I also did a gusset of sorts on the top side.

I was just reminded of something, for some reason. A group of us did a trail run a couple years ago. A dude (was a friend of one the guys that was with us) in a little S10 ended up following us on the ride. He had a janky tire carrier on the back... his tire came off and nearly wiped out the front end of my buddy's 2nd Gen Long Travel.

Moral of the story... don't run janky tire carriers.

 

Sorry man. Theres like nothing to the roots blower. It's pretty damn bullet proof.

And you point out the main reason why Turbo's aren't, there is not simple bolt on solution. Yeah okay LCE has somewhat of a bolt on kit but barely. And only for 4bangers. Because each setup is custom, its not reliable haha Takes a LOT more work and time to get it dialed and reliable. A blower takes 5 hours.

Granted, the blower still generally takes some effort to tune the bastard to get the most out of it. But its well documented and pretty easy to make happen. Turbo's just more work.

Either way, I have a turbo kit in the garage when I get the time to do it. Looking forward to it.

Very nice. I like how it's tied into the bumper still as well.

Could easily had a strap on the back side to the bottom of the bed as the "bed stiffeners" too.
