Recommendations for a good local exhaust shop?

 

B&R Customs down in Fredericksburg is pretty good if you want to drive. I had them install a new muffler on my truck. Was about $60 in labor if I remember right

 

That would be sick; i will be roaming around the area with the trailer grabbing some stuff. Heading to WarTown and then back to HellTown afterwards.

Roberts Custom Exhaust in Stafford is good. He did my exhaust reroute. One man shop and he is getting old so only works a few days a week though. Assuming he is still in business, his website is down.

 

Sooooo believe it or not my truck has a problem.

Ever since the rear brakes broke wheeling at @3pooches house, and i replaced everything and re-bled the system I've had an intermittent soft brake pedal. I double checked shoe adjustment, re-bled 100 times, took it to my buddies shop who did the same and its never gotten better.

Well, today i stopped fairly abruptly (because racetruck) in the rain and the abs came on. The light is now on full time. Any ideas? I don't want to pull the dash back apart to take that light bulb out to.

 

Black tape over the light from the outside? I know the fit and finish isn't as clean as bulb removal.

 

Could you have an air pocket in your abs module? Did you bleed the rear brakes with the truck running?

 

I'm willing to bet that's what it is. I had issues with it. Adam had issues with it. These trucks are stupid to bleed brakes on.

Once you do that the abs lightswill flash. For example if it's something in the right front circuit the lights will flash one,two, three pause one. That signals 31 and that's the last part of the code. You'll want pen and paper handy. Here are the some of the codes

I've never had a problem bleeding an abs system when truck is running. It never bleeds out correctly if the truck is off

 

Going to try and set up an appointment with him shortly after I pick up my skids... Was your reroute a one-day turnaround or did you leave the truck?

I also think the brake bleeding depends on vehicle year, your trim (off road vs sport, etc.), and which type of brake booster you have? I bled mine last fall with just the ignition on, not with the engine running.

 

Yes, ignition on is fine too. That is basically what I meant. I don't actually leave the vehicle running. The ABS system needs to be active while bleeding and it's not active with the ignition off.

Edit: I've also found that some ABS systems don't bleed as well with vacuum bleeders. The old school way of having someone pump up the brakes while I bleed them at the wheel works best....and ALWAYS bleed starting with the furthest wheel from the master cylinder (right/rear) and work your way to the closest (left/front)

 

What about Taskers Gap across the street? If I remember right, Peter's Mill was already closed pre-Corona virus, but not Taskers Gap (at least that's the way it was mid-March when I was there)
