CPS-65 I’m good for some, but I’m not for everyone.

That's another thing I like about the Tacoma, it fits well in the garage. My old truck fit next to my wife's JK and at one time next to our Durango, but it's tight in our 24X24, 2 car. I have several benches plus tools and so on, so the garage has a lot in it. With the Tacoma and Jeep in the two bays, it all fits really nice. I can even get into my truck with both vehicles (mine sits on the right) in the garage. I couldn't do that with the old full size, I had to pull out the Jeep to get into my driver's door or crawl over. I can also service it (Oh, wait, little need for that as it's a Toyota!) with the door down.

Very different suspension. Canyon was not an off-road truck. Offroad’s suspension is soft and plush. Canyon suspension was likely more tailored to serve in the city streets.

kinda like the sport is. Sport taco is much more planted on the highways.

Actually the Canyon rode better on the highway than in town, in fact, it rode better than my wife’s Lexus IS on the highway, which was one of the reasons it had so many miles on it over the 5 years I had it, we would almost always take it on our road trips.

“city streets” As in highways and paved roads... is what I meant. I believe it, probably had a tighter suspension like the Sports taco does.

You can upgrade your suspension to have the best of both worlds.

Hey guys.... new to this forum.
This past Monday I traded my 2016 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel for a new 2020 Tacoma. I’m a long time taco owner prior to the Ram though I’ve only had 2nd gen trucks prior to this one. No regrets here....

All i can say is both gen1 tundras i owned rode far nicer on the highway than my tacoma. My brother use to call them a cadillac truck, he now calls the tacoma a milkshaker on the same roads.

That Ford F350 I posted a pic of the other day? It's my new project now. It's in desperate need of a tune-up, but nothing that new plugs, an oil change, and maybe a transmission flush shouldn't fix.

The payload capacity on my Tacoma is basically the same as my Mazda cx5. Does this drive anyone else nuts?

I had a second gen tundra with just the same pathetic payload, my 4cylinder single cab Tacoma has a bigger payload rating from the factory than the v8 tundra!

    No.
I do not miss my full size Ram 4x4.
I do miss my 1992 Truck after buying a new 2023 Tacoma.
I just don't like big trucks, when the Hilux size truck worked so well for me.

I honestly didn't know it was that bad. I bought a Tacoma because of all the shortages right after corvid. Full size trucks got jacked up in price and I managed to get my hands on an incoming Tacoma for MSRP, so I grabbed it. Now I kind of regret it because even if I go do a costco run with the family. The weight of the people plus the costco stuff probably pushes that 940 lb limit. Not to mention I haul some compost or soil for the garden occasionally. It does ok but it looks like it's struggling. Bed on the floor pretty much.

I went from a 2003 F150 4WD to my 2019 DCLB TRD OR Taco. I liked the F150 (until the engine problems started), but the Taco is a big upgrade.

I had a Tundra before my Tacoma. Loved the Tundra. The Tundra served my needs then. But I love my Tacoma even more. It serves my current needs and its just a fun truck. It just feels right.

I got both. I love both.

I just can't make myself hop in the Tacoma when I need to take a 300+ mile road trip.

The tundra just is smooth at 80+ mph. The Tacoma is working too hard at those speeds...plus I like if there is an accident, the Tundra has a lot more steel between me and the road/other car.

The 3 mpg better is not even a factor to take the Tacoma.

Yes. Everyday. I miss my GMT900 2500HD, i miss the size of its interior, the comfortable seating position, the torque, the visibility out of it, you name it the Tacoma does a good job of doing it worse. I had it in my mind that I wanted a smaller truck and better mileage and FML. I have tried to convince myself I like this truck but aside from being able to squeeze into weird parking situations I just can't with this thing. Before the 2500 i had a raptor and thats the truck I miss most of all. I think its the weird toyota quirks that make me hate this thing so much, the constant shifting, nannies, the way the cluster constantly tells me there someone in front of me...like no f'n sheeeet i see it in the window. thats what I get for taking it on such a short test drive. ugh.

The new Ridgeline has almost 1600 lbs payload capacity. Pretty insane that a unibody has way more payload capacity than the shitty body in frame tacoma.

I went from a deleted HO Cummins 1 ton, to a Silverado 1/2 ton, to the Tacoma.

I greatly miss having 1000ft/lbs of torque and the choo choo turbo noises. Don't miss anything from the Silverado.

Don’t regret the Tacoma. 1 ton had its uses until we sold our camper. Great road tripping truck but don’t miss the mileage or the payment on it.

I want the best of both worlds. Instead of paying the outrageous new truck prices, I’ll have the Tacoma diesel swapped whenever the timing cover or coolant crossover pipe cause issues.
