this is obviously only half right. insurance can’t make money if they don’t fight for their customers.

Rule of thumb, if you can afford to buy another truck out-of-pocket if this one gets totaled, you don't need full-coverage.

This is great advice. Full coverage on an old vehicle isn’t worth it imo

I've had liability with no collision coverage on three cars in my younger and then poor life; they were worth $1-3k at the time (30-35 yrs ago). Anything worth more than $3-5k today it's probably worth the $ for full coverage unless it's something crazy like an additional $800 a year. If someone hits you and it's their fault, then their insurance pays for repairs- assuming they have coverage. I'm in TN and supposedly 20% of drivers are uninsured, so that's another thing to weigh in the decision. My now ex-wife was hit by three people with no insurance, and I was hit by one.
Edit- if they're uninsured and you don't have collision, then you'll have to pay for the repair. And you'll probably never get any $ from them, because people that drive uninsured have no $ for you to try to get.

I finally got around to pulling the carpet up in the hallway, the floor is much worse than I expected. The hot water tank is from 1993 and had seeped over the years trashing the floor. I may even have to have the furnace guy come and remove the furnace so I can tear the floor out under it too.

If you remove the furnace, you won't have A/C, because the blower in the furnace is also for the A/C...

Right I understand that, haven't had it on since last Fall anyway and I'm sure all the refrigerant leaked out anyway. As soon as it feels like it won't get too cold anymore I will have the guy come and pull it.

Don't think it would be too big of an inconvience to have the furnace guy pull the old one and then come back a week or two later to install the new one.

Cops in Encinitas, California issued $1,000 citations to 22 people just for sitting in their cars watching the sunset...

It's not so much the fact they they're issuing citations that pisses me off, but the cost of said citations...

I understand that the whole point of someone getting a ticket (whether for something driving-related or not) is to deter them from doing it again, but the cost of tickets borders on extortion! On top of an exorbitant fine, tickets for moving violations almost always carry those dreaded points on your license, which jack up your insurance rates. The first speeding ticket I ever got was for 43 in a 25, my first offense ever, and it was $180; It's like they think I'm Bill Gates or something! On top of that, it would have carried four points if I'd just gone ahead and paid it instead of contact my lawyer friend and fighting it...

Some countries actually base the cost of a ticket on the offender's annual income, which sucks if you're wealthy but would probably hurt a lot less financially if you're more entry-level like me.

Obviously, these citations in California for violating the stay-at-home order are understandable, but a thousand bucks? Seriously? Some people don't even make that in a month after taxes! I think there's a way of deterring people from going out without potentially destroying them financially!

I didn't want to say this in the guy's BST thread, but I'm a "buy the vehicle for as low as possible with no consideration whatsoever whether or not the seller makes a profit" type of guy...
