Agreed. I heard something the other day about certain things opening back up, they mentioned restaraunts but mask wearing would be required. How in the heck are they figuring on people eating or drinking while wearing a mask...

    @JaCado

I got this trait from my dad...

Almost 25 years ago, my dad wanted to buy a new 1996 Toyota 4Runner, but no dealer within fifty miles of us would budge from sticker price; He walked away, bought a new Pathfinder instead, and held onto that for 13 years! When he traded the Pathfinder for my Tacoma, the sticker price was close to $18K if I remember correctly; After trade and negotiations, he paid less than $15K for my truck!

I see people driving with masks on; Unless you're driving an ambulance, I think this is overkill...

I won a trade war once! I rolled my 4Runner, got a cheapo fender, plastic welded the back side of fender flares, bumper covers, etc, alot of Bondo and sheet metal screws, couple hundred dollars in paint and some tweaking with come alongs so it looked strait and traded that puppy in on a brand new jeep!

I call that a win in a trade war, lol!

First you need to understand what each coverage is.

Typical Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist ONLY covers injuries to people in your vehicle during an accident where you are not at fault and the other driver does not have insurance.

Uninsured/Underinsured Property Damage coverage only covers physical damage to your truck when your in an accident where the other person is at fault and does not have insurance.

Comprehensive coverage covers any damage to your truck that is not from a collision. Like, theft, fire, deer, vandalism, hail, flood, crazy girlfriend, tree falls on it, etc

Collision covers physical damage to your truck if your in an accident and it is your fault. Like you hit another car, a tree, a pole, etc...

Next, you need to understand what your truck is worth and how insurance pays. First, your truck will not be worth $5,000 any time soon. Second, a Comprehensive claim pays for not only your truck, but also add on. So for example, let's say it floods. You get the value of the truck plus, your tires, your stereo, etc. Third, if it's not a total loss, your collision coverage will pay the cost to repair what's damaged. So, if your $500 wheel, $300 tire, $300 slider bar, and bull bar get damaged in a wreck and your at fault, they pay to replace them. The ONLY time you really can get screwed is if it's a total loss and your dealing with a crappy company like the worst of the worst of the worst USAA and they try to only pay out book value.

    Real world example....

Mine is a 2006, a year ago a lady hit me from the side. Damaged brand new Cali rim, brand new 35" tire, side bar, bent a leaf spring, bent the axle. At first her insurance paid me $360. I filed a claim on my collision coverage, they paid about $900 for new tire/wheel/balance, $200 for alignment, $300 for side bar, after I showed them the recall letter from Toyota stating the standard factory leaf springs we're not safe, they paid $900 for OEM Toyota new leaf packs, and after I told them my truck shipped with OEM TRD mechanical LSD rear axle they paid $2,100 for a used numbers matching rear axle. Then the sued her insurance to get the money back. So I ended up getting around $5,000 or so.

The price difference between having Comprehensive and Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Property Damage and Comprehensive and Collision is negotiable.

Keep your full coverage, it's worth it.

BTW, I'm also a licensed insurance agent and adjuster :)

What you're saying makes perfect sense, but did I see "USAA is the worst of the worst"?

comp also covers collisions with animals. if you work in insurance, you’d definitely know there’s no such thing as “full coverage”.

and, um/uim bi and pd are not available in all states.

and, that’s not how all insurance companies pay out for custom parts and equipment.

and, collision can still pay out if the accident wasn’t your fault.

What part of my coverage got USAA to eat the cost of fixing my truck after Sir Drinks-A-Lot's insurance refused to pay out?

They should have fought the drunk guy's insurance company a bit harder, but they determined that it would be cheaper to pay the $2,200 to fix my truck instead of duking it out in court...

The only thing that pissed me off is because my truck was over two years old at the time, they used a non-OEM rear bumper

I guess I should be more clear... DEALING with USAA if you are the other party is by the worst! If your a USAA customer, I can't speak towards that. But I can tell you for a fact from multiple personal experiences dealing with claims where a person insured by USAA was at fault. They won't even answer phone calls much less pay for damages. Just a simple and quck example, I currently have 2 employees who are also licensed insurance professionals who were hit by persons insured by USAA with open lawsuits because USAA has been denying payment for over a year. And I don't mean crazy stuff like injuries, I mean both were stopped at red lights and were hit from behind. USAA offered one half the amount the repairs cost, the other just keeps delaying. One had no injuries, the other had very severe injuries but has full health insurance and only asked them to cover his out of pocket copays, not the whole medical bills. They wouldn't do it.
