Took it on a road trip west to see if the clouds were touching the ground, and I'm happy to report they were. Haven't ventured far from home the last month and a half and am going stir crazy staring at two computer monitors day in, day out. Mrs. had to go to western MD for work today and since we're both essential I decided to tag along and do the driving. It was a miserably rainy day but it didn't matter. Hit a bunch of historic towns along the way (New Windsor, Union Bridge, Libertytown, Sharpsburg, Hagerstown, etc. and ended up in LaVale, just west of Cumberland MD. All in all a great day despite the rain.

This was the first time getting the Taco out on an open road since the lift and new tires. Two things I noticed are that 1) the transmission shifts pretty much normally with the change in diameter from the stock A30s to the 275/70-17 Wildpeaks, no more hunting for gears or running in ECT mode in the hills of western MD on 68, and 2) the whine in the rear diff which has been a thing since day one, is gone.

    Obligatory Pics :)

Gator. Cheap from Amazon, but has held up well so far (over a year).

I was debating doing mine, but didn’t want to spend too much. May go back soon. I’m not gonna do the whole hood though, maybe just a large section of the center (following the lines of the hood).

That’s a shame. Back when I ordered mine, they arrived rather quick. Maybe they’ve fallen behind.

Finished up the “mid skid” today. Welded a couple pieces of angle iron to the cross members and bolted the plate to them. Stout af.
