Cleaning out some parts. I've had this for years. It has the stock intake file loaded, which Gadget had said was the same for TRD cai. This is the early one that requires you to do a couple splices.
$60 shipped - US including HI and AK.

In the early days before HPTuners and Orange Virus had tuning options for the 1GRFE, this device was a way to remap some of the fuel curve and ratios in your ECU. I guess you could call it a tuner to some degree as it was altering fuel/air mixture readings and telling the ECU to do different things than the MAF was telling it to do..
The tune you got was set by URD - Gadget, based on the intake and exhaust bolt-ons you had on your truck in order to squeeze some benefit out of those bolt on mods.
It did come with some software to modify the tune, but the tune it shipped with was believed to be optimal for the bolt-ons you declared at time of purchase.
The "tune" this one shipped with was for nothing more than a TRD CAI bolt-on, which coincidentally is the same tune they would have shipped for a stock intake.
I ran it for a long time. Once HPT and OVT started really taking over this space, I switched to HPT which is an entirely different ballgame.
The splice is on 3 or 4 wires at the ECU. I still have the original instructions that came with it, but they are also available at URD.
Full disclosure - the new version of this device is plug and play, no more splicing.. but if you're comfortable with a little wire cutting, this one accomplishes the same thing.
Like some tunes or tuners, your ECU might throw a CEL in the beginning, but it will eventually adjust to its new normal.

So does this give better fuel economy and better throttle response?

Fuel economy - doubtful. Slightly better performance, yes, but I will stress "slightly". HPT and OVT do both and much better, but cost way more.
